right I've got a 1999 1.4 16 polo

its got the standerd tweeters in the dashbord.

the standard speakers in door.

but kenwood speakers in pasrcel shelf but just cheap ones all in when i brought then cra.

I'm after base in the back but alos good quility sound I'm ok with wireing as I'm an electrican and used to set up home cinama systems so no too different but when it come to makes of speakers i dnt have a clue.

I've also been told by some people its better to scrap the tweters and go for 10cm speakers and others say have components.

right i want 6x9's in back and wotever in frount i just want it to sound good but i only want to spend £100 - £150 most.

p.s head unit is a sony with 4x 45w output

also carnt have sub in boot cus i need the space.

if anyone could help me out by letting me know what to buy and what not to id be sorted.

eh up, coponants in the front will give you by far the best sound any with a good cross over not inline ones sumert like CDTCL5.1 or planet audio vtx52 or any of the focal range sound deadning will help but you dont have to.

rears mmm stick with 6x9s but get a good shlelf made they need to be mounted on a on same plain ie pice of wood or sumert makes them sound realy good. have a look at cerwin vega planet audio for your 6x9s

a small 4 ch amp will make a masive diferance if you can streach to it.

bigest advice i can give is listen to what your thinking of buying dont jusy buy off a web site there are plenty of realy good car audio dealers out there.

I have 6x9's. Got them for free as i had no money for anything else and with a Mk2 i have to wait until i make up some doorpods, because as standard they only have one speaker up front, in the dash

To be quite honest my 6x9's dont sound too bad and i just whipped up a sturdy home made stealth shelf and they provide me with sound and will do until i can afford to pay for a good system. Don't want a huge bling install just a nice sound.

6x9's only seem truly terrible when just placed in a parcel shelf that has been hacked away at with a breadknife, and are on show as if they look good. Stealth is the future unless you like driving round sat on broken glass all your life.

Agreed.....i am not proud of mine and i would not be showing them off but i have no money to spare on decent equipment. If i just want something to fill the void until i can get something decent then i don't get what all the fuss is about. They maybe shit but they serve my purposes right now just fine.

Don't know why you got such a hard time though...... You didn't say anything wrong. Think a bit of "wrong end of the stick" in a previous post maybe??

think it is to do with 'bread van' trying to recommend a certain place and make alot of the time, asif he works on a commision or something, there is a section on this site for sellers.

try using vibe qb69's (the rectangle speakers), i have these an they are pritty bass'y for a set of 6x9s, but want a good rms rated amp to power them.

You may also want to consider an active sub. Its basicly an amp wioth a small sub built in designed to be mounted under a seat or somewhere small. People use them to compliment the bass in the rear of their cars but I'm sure they output enough bass for what you are after. Seach active sub on ebay to see what sort of thing i mean

Yeah fair point but everyone else links to www.caraudiodirect.co.uk and they don't get shat on. I am sure that if he keeps plugging the same sites and anything seems dodgy about it he will get a word from the mods. Maybe he has just used that company and they were good for him and he is just passing on some advice.

I see your point though, he does seem direct with his recommendation. Some are a little quick too judge is all. Don't matter to me either way :-)

with that budget, you will get more bass and a far better sound with half decent comps and a half decent 2 ch amp than cheap comps, cheap 6x9s and a cheap 4ch amp

there is no way you will ever get bass from a pair £35 6x9s £70 components will make more bass and have a tighter more acurate sound

but the difference with this is that he is not getting speakers for free he is asking what will sound best for the money, which in this and 99% of cases is not 6x9s. there is nout wrong with 6x9s up front prividing they are installed correctly, but if you are going to buy some speakers to upgrade the sound system in your car components are the way to go.

CAD do look good to be fair, just felt sorry for bread van. He might be trying to help not plug.

When i am ordering some equipment i think i will go with CAD. They seem to have a good range at sensible prices so no arguements there.

My 6x9's for free are fine but i get what you mean. I wouldn't go 6x9 if i was spending my own dollar.

You all know a lot more than me so i'm just going to shut up now until i want some audio jazz, then i will be straight back up with some entry level dumb questions!!

tbh alot of people link to CAD because they are the best online shop, maybe not the cheapest, but the most reliable and helpful

i never disagreed.

right so as i understand u guys think i should go for component and amp first then maybe 6x9's in stealf shelf after once saved up abit more.

yeah cheers guys and I've seen the stealf shelfs before that is what i wanted had 6x9's on show in my last car and they looked dog.

o one other thing in the dash go for tweeters or 10cm speakers?

components are a midrange woofer and a tweeter if you have a look at the link you will see.....

if you are going to go for a stealth shelf bung a 8" or 10" sub in it instead of 6x9s, there is no reason why you cant have a sub there...
