My dad is in the middle of fitting rear discs and pads to my mk5 polo, he cant budge the caliper piston because he is unsure how to reset the handbrake...

any help much appreciated...quickly if possible :)

Spoke to a guy at work and he reackons you have to disconnect the handbrake connector... not sure if this is helpful Lyndsey...

been told the pistons should be wound back and dont have to touch the handbrake?

The pistons need to be twisted as well as pushed back, you don't need to touch the handbrake, I have tool for doing this but i'm not sure how to do it without it.

I see...well he said he tried pushing them back with no luck (probably didnt twist!) going into a garage tonight anyway so will get them to do it while I'm there! thanks for your help :)
