Yes indeed. Here is my Golf. It's only a 1.3 carb and is pretty damn slow at the moment, but the ride and handling make up for that, if it is a bit soggy.

I know I can't take pics properly, shh. I want some smoked indicators, side repeaters and rear lights for it, and get some bigger steelies and paint them black. An arch and sill kit would be nice too.

I NEED to get rid of the 13" Mk4 Polo alloys on it though, they look dreadful on the Golf. Looked alright on the square before I sold it though...

Cheers!

The most annoying thing is how pink it looks in the pics... :( It's actually properly red, and I should think so too after fucking AGES with a mop...

Looks tidy dude 8-)

Loving the comment under your name

Golfs are much cooler, Nice choice

Cheers lads :)

A few cheap mods are first on the list just to get rid of the standardness, then I need to consider suspension etc. Do I turn the car into late GTI spec with the front and rear ARBs, rear discs, bigger front discs, or do I just slam it on coilies?

Need a bit more grunt from the exhaust though. 3 weeks before I got it the previous owner spent £210 on a brand new VAG exhaust, not including fitting

Oh, and a dubmodder helped intended spec pic:

But scrap the quad headlights, I'm not so sure about them now.

Its a 1.3 mate, unless you plan on having loads more power i`d just slam it on coilies :-D

Single headlights FTW

How much it cost you anyways?

Sure, it's a 1.3 but the brakes are all brand new and it doesn't exactly stop very well, and it's very soggy!

And yes I want half smoked lights please :D

Oh, and it cost me tooooo much. Could have bought a half reasonable GTI for £600...

the brakes on mine seem great, i think you should give them a bleed though and see if that sorts it out mate.

and i feel your pain, i paid £700 for mine and it turned out to be a right lemon, if its not one thing then its another, but you live and learn i supose :?

The brakes have been power bled, everything is new, they are as good as they can be. I'll have a look at the hoses, they might need replacing. I just assumed as they are the same brakes as the Polo they would be shit anyway.

Thankfully at the moment it doesn't seem like a lemon  underneath the car I don't think there is a single thing that hasn't been replaced recently. I've got a book of receipts as thick as the owners manual for the last two years totalling just over 3 grand lol - why the hell someone would spend that much I don't know...

How similar are the Golf 1.3 Engine mounts to say....a G40? :D

  • Author

A G40 block will drop straight in... Just need to fiddle about with mounting the charger.

think you have to play with the gearbox mount as well plus you then hve to sort all the wiring, i looked into it but thought whats the point in putting one of them in when i have to potentional to get some proper power for the cash i would spend on fitting and running one.

although you would get added scene tax for doing the conversion

Even better then, get a GTI cam, exhaust and a Weber on there and you're laughing.

Is it a tidy shell?

I might do, just if I can afford it, gota get coilies first lol

yea its tidy, few dents and that but can easily be sorted.
