I'm about to purchase some r6 carbs for my valver, could you let me know what I've gotta do to get em fitted? what did u do? did u get the mani lasered?

There are numerous thread all over the site about this but not specifically valver related. I haven't time at the minute but I'll PM you about it. and the manifold was water jet cut.

Ok so with uni over yesterday I decided to get my finger outa my ass and get the Polo done for Castlewellan. Seeing as 13s wont fit over my bigger brakes now I had to pinch James's uber cool 14s :p

Myself and Pete (who deserves a huge thanks for today) rolled the car outside for the first time since it was painted:

Next the front seats were pulled out:

And replaced with my cloth VR6 seats:

Next the rears were removed but the rear VR's don't fit. So we pulled the cloth and foam off the wire seat bases, swapped the Polo bases onto the VR foam and cloth and now they fit

Tomorrrow we'll do the back of the rear seats and start getting everything ready for the new carbs

and you shouldnt have had to swap the bottoms over on the vr6 seats, you shouldve just trimmed down the bit that holds them in, thats all i did =D

Lmao. I didn't want to keep you's in suspense any longer. I'd kinda lost heart in it after driving the Golf but now back working at it again I'm buzzing

The VR and Polo brackets were competely different. Are your bases just sitting in the Sean? Mine still work the same way as they originally did. Literally took 5 mins to do but the back rest part was a different story... lol

Ok so back at the Polo today. Decided to pull the interior back out again and hoover it etc properly and take the opportunity to run the main power wire to the battery in the boot and sound system stuff properly.

While Pete was swapping the backs on the rear seats I ran the cables down the car. All clipped into the original VW clips:

Next we trimmed the boot carpet to fit around the new battery tray (looks alot neater with the rear seats fitted):

mine just literally fitted straight in after i shaved the clip part down that fits to the body of the car, the rears were totally different and i had to mod but the bottoms just went in =S very strange...

love this car and proper inspired me to get on, and so i am (this weekend) =D

HAHA don't talk lad. My summer trip to America sucked me dry for money so I'm only getting back to it now.

I was gona update it tonight but might as well now.

I finally sorted my gearlinkage out after serious fucking about. Last night I lifted my mk2 dizzy/loom/etc and shall be fitting it shortly. I also am now running ZX7R carbs and my pal is aluminium welding the manifold again to suit them so game on Feels great to get working on it again.

This week I'm also lifting a few new body panels for it for a few exterior changes

I'm heading to work now but I'll post pics of my carbs, loom etc later.

About time for an update I think.

Got my ignition system sorted. Lifted a mk2 golf loom, ignition module and dizzy and got to fitting it (except for the dizzy which was wrong :()

I got myself a decent set of carbs this time. they're off a ZX7R and here they are:

Due to the new carbs being downdraughts I had to chop up my previous made manifold to be reshaped so I cut the old tubes off, got new tubing and cut it to length and here's the final piece ready for welding:

Hopefully my manifold will be welded up next week so I can get the thing fired up (and not pissing fuel over the manifold) again.

Also ordered a few new body panels for proposed changes so be expecting some new genuine VW sills shortly and new rear end

I'll be getting a set custom cut. A friend has built a high powered valver engine with custom cams, throttle bodies etc and gona get the guy that did his to do mine. I must remove that from my title actually lol

Ok so between work and uni I've had very little time to get any proper work done until last nite.

I finally got my manifold sorted thanks to Brian welding it and then polishing it myself. Don't think it was too bad for me doing it in work over two evenings lol.

First I had to cut off the previously welded tubes and get the flange flat again

After that Brian welded my new tubes on

Then i got polishing

And mounted on the engine:

Next up the new dizzy was cleaned up and mounted (still need to paint the vac advance bit):

Finally I removed the ecu from under the windscreen:

and started to trace all the wiring that I can removed. If I'm right I can remove most of what I thought was going to be a problem to hide

Just need to get some 44/45mm ID hose to connect my carbs and it should fire up :D

Just ordered myself some nice black silicone hoses to join the carbs to the manifold

Looks good.. what are you doing about the vacuum required by the brake servo?

I'll be taping some holes under the runners and threading in some nipples and running the servo off them. same with the vacuum advance.

i used to laugh at my mums polo when i was working on my car from across the drive... not any more... i think i need a slammed polo...............

make sure the tubing you get is petrol friendly coz it melts silicone mate just a heads up
