Ok so my new hoses arrived at 10am this morning (up waiting for them on my day off :$ lol)

After a few hours fannying about and having to fit them, take them off, fit them, take them off etc etc I ended up having to shorten the manifold by 30mm to stop the carbs hitting the servo.

Next up I'll be test wiring the new mk2 Golf loom and firing it up. At that stage I can get start stripping out any of the original 8v wiring I don't need.

awesome work... looks awesome , do the 1.4 16v engine mounts bolt straight in to the 1.4 8v body.. was thinking of buying 1.4 16v donor car and doing a swap but not sure if its worth it... whats your take?

The engine is a straight swap bar the driver side engine mount which is different. Altho that's no problem if you're buying a full doner car. I can't honestly say much else as I duno how hand you are around a car. Sorry.

It lives. Finally after all this time it runs. No fuel pissing onto the exhaust or anything :p

Worked at it all day changing looms, leads, cleaning plugs and generally fucking about and wrecking my head and in the last 10mins Paddy suggested checking the timing. Tweaked it abit at the distributor and she fired up.

It's idling is set way to high, it needs jetted and set up properly but this is it fired up for the first time. I'll get a proper video of it idling lower tomorrow and reving properly. Also the whining in the video is interference with the camera not the engine.

You hear it reving better towards the end of the video.

nice one conner sounds awsome i'm itching to get mine running now, bit of tweeking and that will be mint mate stick at it.

i've a full week off uni so i'll be at it every day. i's so stoked after getting it running today. i'll be putting a proper video up of when i get it running properly so i'll keep you informed lad

Dan, Paddy and I messed about today and adjusted the air/fuel mixture screw and the timing and now it's running a lot better. And by better I mean not running lean...

Here's a video of it idling and running better. If i can get it driving OK i'll be happy then leave it to Hole Shot to set it up.

fair play they tic over sweet, doin mine atm waiting for all my bits to come got carbs and flange on way :)

surprisingly it was on 3 cylinders there in the 2nd video. got it running on 4 again today. was water in round the plug lead. sounds alot better now and more responsive. i'll have some pics and videos up again in the next few days.

Yeah might be problems with the vacuum off one i'd have thought. Is there a diesel/ turbo diesel vw that uses a similar block to that of the polo, because I looked into the servo pumps that other td renaults use for mine that runs off the cam to create the pressure.

Mine can be really hard pedal braking until the vacuum gets built up

Never thought of that Stephen. We're building a mk3 diesel trike atm and the servo take of is seperate on it. Must see if I could adapt it for mine

Bit of a quick update. The car in the pervious videos was running on 3 cylinders due to damp around one of the plug caps so have that sorted.

Contacted Holeshot Racing today who are going to set the car up properly so this week I'll get the throttle and clutch cable sorted and gear linkage adjusted and bring it down to them.

Also picked this up today thanks to the legendary Mr Neil Graham so I can begin getting my exhaust built for after MoT. 2" stainless.

Ok so I've been putting off aligning the gearbox linkage as I tried to do it a while ago and it was a disaster. Now I have to. VW have a tool to lock the gearstick in the correct position but try getting one from them. So I when all arts and crafts and got a template of the tool, printed it off, stuck it to a HMV gift card and cut it out with a stanley knife. Slow process but I'll let you know if it paid off tomorrow.

Also the car is ticking over perfect now, I'll be tidying the fuel lines tomorrow and bleeding the coolant system so it'll be ready for sending off. I'll have a few pics and videos up tomorrow.

Right so this last while we've been working away and here are a few updates:

I tidied up the fuel lines into a neater loop and the t piece off feeds the carbs:

I continued on removing what wasn't needed and altho I'm not finished yet there are definatly alot less wires:

Lee and Paddy removed the coilovers and after alot of heat and beating we have them raised. The worst was one of the rears we had to cut a ring off:

Also I drilled and tapped my manifold to accept an airline fitting for my servo off-take:

Biggest update is that it's also going to Holeshot Racing to get set up on Tuesday :D

i've just been doing the wiring on mine mate i now have about 20 small wires going into the bay. i chopped out the ecu loom altogether because all it does is run the injection so it has no place in my car now lol.

i now have to figure out the ignition side of things and try bypass the immobleizer witch should be fun.

hope its all going well pal will put some pix up later of my bay and how far i am, still no engine in tho as its at some place gettin the crank re balanced the bores re glazed and the new bearings put in

Got the coilovers in and the car raised up to a (hopefully) rolling roadable and motable height.

My servo port is working grand and i've a good solid brake peddle again.

next up we drove it outside and got the 106 radiator bled using a t piece and bung were the expansion tank was blanked off.

Tonight we got it ready to go the Holeshot tomorrow for setting up. Go the interior pieced together, windows taped up and the wiring tidied up and coil temporarily mounted. Can't wait to actually get a drive in it
