Awesome car dude, been watching this thread for a while now.

Out of interest how do you trim the pillars?

Pull the alacantara tight then staple the back?

Its something i really want to do :D

Love it 8-)

that is a cool looking polo, different, both of them

nice one forde. add me on msn if u want any help with the polo. my address is on my RMS profile. thanks everyone. in the next four weeks my plans are finish trimming the head cloth, install, roll/flare the arches, respray the car the same colour only properly this time and fit 155/55/14 on my 7s on the front and space them out.

dave to trim them i just used spray upholstery glue and stuck it on then super glue the edges on the back.

here's the arch roller i made:

Aye, ill give you an add  You on nsdubs? Its pretty good for round here and finding shows that arent in england lol

yeah mate been on there about a year. i was nsdubs crew until we formed the 6YC

that arch roller looks better than the one that was used on my car and its a DIY :(

car is a cracker, was gonna ask about trimming the interior, but i see you have answered the question on how to fit it.

where did you source the material from?

if you could do the guide on the splitter too mate that would be great, its always good to have technical guides on the forum!

not a problem. i'll knock up a guide for the splitter sometime today. i can also do one for the arch roller if anyone wants. who do i contact about putting the guides on the site or do i just post them somewhere? material was just from a fabric shop in glasgow called mandors

i there is a guide for the roller i think i started making mine jsut didnt have a skate board for its wheel  looking good mate, a window out job for the headlining isent it? or you not bothering and just trimming upto it?

  • Author

nah man I'm taking the headlining out to trim it although as far as I'm aware the windows dont need to be removed :? can anyone tell me for sure?

yeah mate been on there about a year. i was nsdubs crew until we formed the 6YC

yeah what is that 6yc thing all about, does it actually do anything?

i like this! same colour i was gonna do my van, but done primer grey instead lol thought about doing the rims matte black?

Looks the nuts man, been thinking about doing my drifty 200sx project that colour. Good to see it on a car looking sweet. 8-)

the 600 Yard Crew (6YC) is our club. involves myself, gaz vw, tufty, moddie, chunk and a few others. add me on msn and i'll give u the low down.

cheers lads. i think what makes mine different is that the car is show spec but army green rather than a rat car painted army green

  • 4 weeks later...

may i ask where did you or where you getting the matte laquer from?

that looks ace. With camo seats in it it would look the boll*cks

nice mate.

where is that fabric shop in glasgow mate?

the satin lacquer is 1K with a matte agent mixed in. tbh it was 3 years ago but if i remember right theres a huge cinema (really tall) possibly in the student area. come out of it, turn left and walk up a hill and its at the top on the left hand side.

camo seats would look good wouldnt they ;) :p

for anyone interested i should have a big update tonite :D

woop! headlining update 8-)??

alot more than that my polo loving friend 8-)

well folks. i've been looking to update this for a while but didnt want to before the club gti show (very big VW show here in Ireland). i took the car off the road about two weeks before the show to respray it properly and sort out a few we things then a few things turned into alot :p

first of all i decided to camber the rear wheels a bit to gain as much clearance as i could as well as rolling the arches. while rolling the arches i decided to pull them out instead. i went a bit over bored and pulled them about an inch so i had to space my rear wheels out 10mm bringing the offset to et5.

next i spaced the front wheels 5mm and with the narrower tyres coming soon i'll space them another 5mm. being bored one night in the house i decided to do my rear view mirror in black and white checker.

next up was the respray. i did the car the same army green as before altho this time i lacquered it with 5 thin coats of 1k lacquer to give it the satin finish yet still protect it. the mirrors were sprayed satin black. while re-doing my leather roof i used evo stick contact adhesive rather than the ****e before which seems to be holding better :D

while reassembling the car i pulled the headcloth out and after a few minutes it was black and drying off ready to be refitted and fitted the clear front indicators. i also moved the rear number plate from the bumper to the boot.

i think thats everything i did. i wanted to get the sound system done but ran out of time but i'll do it shortly along with a few other interior ideas :D

the work paid off though as it seen be lift runner up best polo and the spirit of castlewellan award :D

thanks to everyone who lent a hand to help me finish the car on time
