yeah when the SVA regulations came out Westfiled were producing cars that had side exit exhausts on different sides of the cars (Pinto or Xflow) or both sides of the car (Rover V8)

i had one on my mk3, that came out the passanger side and the 2 times i got pulled in it they never said any thing about it (and one of the times they were ripping my car to bits nearly :( ). that was just a straight though pipe from the center box and it sounded sweet, and it was on a mk3 lowered 80mm and never caught apart from when i tried to get up a big curb.

and its still there!!!! Not had any problems with it regarding the old bill so we'll wait and see..................

Where does this "must exit on driver's side" idea come from? Many kit car and commercial vehicles have side exit exhausts on the nearside. The rally car has a side exit just in front of the nearside rear wheel and has never been an issue for the MOT. I know of several other rally cars with side or sill exit exhausts on the nearside which pass the MOT with no problems.

AC Cobra. has the exhaust on the side of the car which seems even more dangerous than just abit of pipe poking out!

I was gonna say... SLR Mclarens have side exit on both sides

Dont know much about side exits other than they can look rather gay unless done really well . I only ever seem to see rally crap bodged jobs to be honest . Unless the car is made to accomodate a side exit exhaust .

mines not pretty but it works! Gonna look into doing something with it when the weathers better.
