Hey guys, i got some new alloys (just cheap ones) for winter wheels and i gotta put some rubber on them asap. I normally run eagle F1 GSD3's all threw the year. But do you think i should put something else on these seeing as there gonna spend most of there miles in the wet/snow?

And if so any suggestions as to what tyre?

You have 2 choices.....

1) A good all year round tyre that is good for rain/snow, or

2) Specific Winter tyres

When I lived in Germany, WestfaliaTechnica did remould winter tyres that were plenty okay for vicious winter season and even for skiing trips to the alps (where you had to carry snow chains anyway).

Shod with skinny ones (and no chains) I once got my Polo up an icy bavarian autobahn hill past slithering Mercs and jack-knifed lorries to the amazement of the Polizei and the broken down grit spreader lorry.

Get some Avons. Fairly cheap and love the wet. We don't have the sort of winters to require specialist tyres.

My mate bought some Yokohama Winter-Ts for his car, and they go through snow so well, and grip well in the snow so well, but the most impressive thing is how fucking good they are in the dry. If they didn't wear so quickly, I'd have no hesitations as to running them all year round, wet weather grip is astonishing as well...

I have had some Fulder Carats Assuro's before rather large profile but they were good in the wet
