Right, the GT has gone in lots of pieces. I still have the log book, what do I have to do to say its scrapped. I know normally you give the V5 to a scrappy and they do it for you, but I forgot to give the V5 to the guy who weighed the car in.

You don't need any paperwork, you can just write to them and say it's been scrapped and give a date. I've had to do this as they, the DVLA, never sent me the paperwork.

just send the section of the logbook back to DVLA with the scrapped box ticked.If it went in lots of pieces theres no chance of it appearing back on the road!

Looks like Kam spotted the scrapped tick box on the blue section. Just tick, date, sign at the bottom and post it to the DVLA. You should then get a reciept about 3-4 weeks later (like if you sell on a vehicle) saying you are no longer the registered keeper.

I have scraped quite a few cars.. When you send of your letter informing the DVLA they will send you one back saying "thankyiou for informing us ..bla bla bla" Make sure you keep that as it IS PROOF THAT YOU TOLD THEM!! i once had them come back and tell me i had not informed them. when i had. Good thing i had kept the letter they sent, other wise you get i fine for not having it taxed!!!
