Derby bonnet

Featured Replies

Recently bought a square headlamp grill for my coupe S. Problem is that when fitted to the coupe it leaves a gap between the top of the grill and the end of the bonnet. The bonnet of the derby with the squarelamps has a chrome strip i think that covers this gap. I have an eyebrow spoiler to fit for now but i would rather get hold of one of these bonnets.......

I know this is a long shot by the way, if anyone has one or knows where i may find one i would be very greatful!!

Thanks

The plastic spoiler/strip shouldn't cost more than 10-15 quid at your local stealer. The bonnet is the same as any other mk II Polo

Anyone have one lying about or no where i may find one?? It is not just a strip you can buy from VW. Completely different bonnet.

Thanksy!!

just for info dude the bonnets are different and yeah you will be left with a gap! Either try patiently like you are to get a bonnet from derby or vw still do the black strips instead of the chrome ones as i had to replace mine on my loon! Hope that helps mate

Cheers for the info matey. I have the square lamps on my car and they look good its just i have to run a shitty looking eyebrow spoiler. I painted it satin black and it isn't offensive looking but i would rather have the derby bonnet.

So anyone out there no anyone with one they may part with let me know!! :-)

Thanks again for the reply!!

Why not just buy a grille spoiler from Kamei or similar?

Are you 100% sure the part number for the bonnets are different? Have you checked on ETKA

And when you are saying Derby, are you talking about the Mk II, eg Polo Saloon?

Yeah the polo saloon. I have the kamei eyebrow spoiler on my car in satin black but would prefer the mk2 saloon bonnet. Sorry am i asking for the wrong part here??

Also yes i went to VW and they said that the bonnets are not the same and it is not just the strip at the bottom of the bonnet that i need but the whole bonnet.

Sorry i maybe being a retard as i am unsure what the model with the square lamps is usually referred as.

Basically i am afer a mk2 saloon bonnet for the model with the square lamps.

Thanks again

The mk2 bonnets are all the same (apart from washer jet positions). As said above, the early mk2 saloon has a plastic trim strip (now obsolete from VW) which covers up the cut outs for the round headlights on the bonnet.

Agree totally with Nick :-D

Bonnets are all the same on Mk.2's regarding the fitment round the lights at the leading edge of the bonnet.

Yeah i had thought of that but not got any quotes yet. Just make the end of the bonnet square and just a slight lip over the front end. Could look good if done right. My bonnet needs doing anyways!! :-)
