i need quite a stretch on my porsche cups rims that I'm sticking on my mk4 polo

they are 16x9 on the rear

195's is surely unsafe by a long way?

I have 215s on a 9j rim.... Thats way more than enough....

id say 205 min, or 215... < safe, better handling etc

Here's a few guidelines from TÜV/tyre manufacturers on suitable wheel/tyre combinations:

175/50-13 Max 6-13

195/45-13 Max 8-13 with minimum 36 psi pressure on 8-13

185/50-14 Max 7-14

195/45-14 Max 8-14

205/45-14 Max 8,5-14

215/40-14 Max 9-14

225/40-14 Max 9-14 (except Toyo's who can be fitted to 10-14)

255/35-14 Max 10,5-14

195/45-15 Max 8-15 (bridgstone B530 is allowed on 8,5-15)

215/40-15 Max 9-15

215/45-15 Max 9-15

215/40-16 Max 9-16

215/35-16 Dunlop max 8,5-16 (used to be allowed on 9-16, but approval has been withdrawn, not sure about Conti)

Not insane, but quite stupid

my 215/40s on my 9's looks pretty extreme!

my friend put 195/45s on a 9 inch rim on advice from ryan (stanton) it unseated itself from teh rim at 80mph

you have been warned, if you go for an insano stretch and it happens, i wont be giving you sympathy...

Stretch tyres get to much grief, there not even that dangerous.

I'd go for 205s, 195s will go on but look stupid.

it also depends what the offset is gonna workout to be with adaptors..etc ??

you wont get much grip with a 195/45 fitted to a 9 inch rim, esp when you compare it to a 6,5-7 inch rim.

When fitting a 195/45VR to 8 inch rim, the effective speed rating is HR, and the effective load rating is 10% less than what is stated on the sidewall. On a 9 you would probably be down to a SR speed rating

The sidewalls are just not built to take load at an angle
