Stretch on a 9inch rim?

Featured Replies

Yes, but a 215 is better than a 205 lol

Even a 225 stretches slightly on a 9, a 245 just about sits flat.

hmmmm.. someone got a raddo??????

Hehe! :p

Yeh that broke down on the first day and someone also nicked my dyce valve caps! Fucking pikey bastards! GRRRRR as you can see......i am RAGIN! Car went into the garage, i await the verdict....replacement shells or, wait for it......an engine rebuild :( After 1 day!

By the way, dub1.....i'd say either 205's or 215's, i'v got the 205's and it still handles ace :D

215's would still look great and give a little better grip!

But if you are worried about clearance, then i'd go for the 205's!

215s all the way.... 8-)

I'm having 195's on my 9's, no problem at all with them

205/45s? or 215/45s? or less sidewall, like 40?

yeh i'm talkin about 40's dude

205/40's will be similar to mines, 215/40's will be similar to Pacman

i dont want to go as severe as 195's if i cant help it

i wouldn't mind better pics of the 205 & 215 stretch, i really need 2 guage the extent of the stretch before i buy my tyre's

you polo_01 and pacman get some pics up

for a 9x16 the best all round tyre for a polo 6n will be 215/35/16's this tyre will give you the stretch you need to fit the porka rims onto your car, they have a lower rolling radius when compared to 195/40/16's,

get some 165/40/16's [to match the stretch on the rear, as 195/40's won't be stretched.] on the front wheels, this will be the perfect combo for 7+9x16's nice and low rolling radius to keep your car nice and low......

any other tyre on the 9's will make your car sit to high and look stupid, remember it's all about STANCE!

but what about 205/40? lol

& i was going to be running 195's on the front, wasnt sure about 40 or 45 profiles, much difference on the ride quality?

Edited by Dub1

if you stood a 205/40 and a 215/35 next to each other you would see how much lower the 215/35's are, and only a little wider. you wanna keep your rolling radius down as much as poss,

195/40's on the 7's won't give you know wear near the same stretch as 215/35 on the 9", more equal to a 225 on the 9".

depends what hight and look your after fella, as for ride, stick with 15's max if you worried about that.

remember it's all about STANCE!

and scene points :p

what about a 9x15, they dont do a low profile tyre like that do they?

so with the advice you just gave me in mind, maybe 215/35 is the way foward

but unsure on the fronts now...new complications, lol

you polo_01 and pacman get some pics up

I HAVE put a pic up :unibrow:

Nah, and 215/40's have big side walls and look huge on a 9", i'd say a toyo 195/45 as the shape of the toyo works well on a 9".

i'm waiting for the day that 195/40/15's and 215/35/15's come out.

I'm waiting for that day aswel!

I've found Dunlops still make 215/40/15's but are £120 each!

On my wheels I'm running 165/45/15 on a 8j and 195/45/15 on a 9j, some might say its abit extreme but I've seen this done loads of times, not this combination on one car tho!

Its all about getting that side wall at an angel and in the arch, the more ye can do that the more you can crank the car down!

get some pics up that sounds like a nice combo.............

:

Ill try and get pics soon as there cleaned up, got handprints all over them and not even on the car yet, but i will get pics up!

the 165 came from Alax on edition, if he can run that on a g60 then I'm sure itll be more than fine on mine!

As for the 195, seen it on a few Mk 3 golfs on edition! O and on Stantons mk 2.... but that doesnt feel me with confidence :p

Just haven't seen many people stretching on BBS RM's which is a little bit worrying!

wasn't Alex running 165/50's on his OZ's??

Yes....

Why the fuck did i put 45, i had this problem before with getting 165 45 and 165 50 wrong

And I'm running the same, NOT 45's lol, altho i wish they were!

Dan i'm scared!!! Dont die man :(

Fuck you man!!! lol

I'm totally oblivious to the dangers of stretch I'm affraid!

lol

195/45 should be ordered soon then, give a nice look to the 15s i'm getting :ninja:

what would a slightly less stretched option be? (just to be on the safe side lol)
