i remember when signing up for an insurance policy that the main driver (policy holder) should be the owner of the car, can't remember exactly where but i do remember reading up on that, which is why my car is in my dads name , never know might be wrong though. A bit unfortunate for your mate to find out this way, hope he get's it sorted, insurance companies will usually try anything and everything to get out of paying.

no, insurance companies see it as fraud, as many younger drivers are the main and only driver and have their parents on the insurance policy as the main driver when they never drive the car.

if the registered owner of the car is the son/daughter it would make things look worse
