I am looking to buy an S reg Polo which has standard rims on it.

I am looking to replace with another set of alloys

Firsly what size are the standard size rims? So I can get a direct replacement

Secondly is there any benefit in getting bigger rims (and bigger tyres?) - and if so what sizes can I fit?

Standard 6n steelies are 13x5 IIRC..

14s and 15s look the nicest on a mk4 if you're going to change them..also wider wheels like 7/8 inch

As far as tyres go, you want low profile like 45 - 55..looks better and enables you to lower the car more

they are standard size steelies ATM I think but not in great shape. I will prob go for a bigger ones 14 maybe

do they have any performance value?

on my mazda 323 i went from 14 to 15 and the difference was big.

I also want tyres that are fairly common otherwise it will prob cost mroe each time to replace them!
