how/where and with what do i lube the heater motor

on a mk2, don't think its seen much use recently tbh,

rescued from a scrappy with a blown resistor so i doubt

it has been switched on for a fair while.

really don't want to have to pull the thing out although

i have spares to hand if need be.

all suggestions appreciated.

Could spray wd40 into the heater intake with the fan running. Have the windows open as its going to be smelly for a while

and covering the vents in cloth maybe, so it doesn't just shoot out all over the interior?

tried wd40 and it doesnt work very well. you can get to the bearing but i dont think it was designed to be maintained. either put up with the noise or swap it. i went for the later option!

i sprayed mine with a silicone grease spray, as said it smells for a bit but stops the noise, I've held mine off for about 2 years now and its started up again all the time in all speeds, and yes agreed it is bloody annoying! not much else you can do about them I'm afraid other than find another one, and thats easier said than done if you want to make sure that doesn't squeek as well! its not that hard to change, and easier in a mk2 as you don't have to move so much stuff out of the way to get it out.

silicon grease, thats what i used, not as loud anymore only on fan setting 3 does it hum a little

You can ge the motor out of the casing carefully and then you can get to it all to grease properly that definatly helps i did this then broke the resitor on mine so i only get speed 3

you used to be able to get refurbs kits for these, not sure if you still can

only know i priced one up about 2 years ago, sitll haven't fixed mine yet

left it running tonight and it's gone quiet, bloody thing !

i bet the struts don't swap themselves though :(

A viscous silicon based lube spray is the best for this application.

Spray into the back of the motor on the opposite side of the air intake, its more effective that way I find.
