I need help mounting the cover beneath the glovecompartment.. Its loose :(

This the cover I'm talking about...

How can the glove compartment, and the "floor" of the compartment, be removed?

I'm thinking of mounting my inverter behind the circled area, on the inside. But does anybody have any smart ideas on how to mount it? There is room, I just don't know how I could fasten it a bit..

How can I remove this cover? I would like to insert a switch there, and that would be much easier if I could unmount the cover. Is there anyway to make the CD-player fit? I just can't make it "lock" itself in the cradle.

I was thinking of mounting my xbox here. Is there anyone who could give me a smart solution on how I could fasten it? :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I am not 100% sure on these but as no one else has answered i thought that i would give it a go. That pannel that has fallen down in the passengers seat i believe pretty much sits in place, so try pushing it back up there and see what happens, if not look around for screw holes or holes for old cable ties. If you are still unable to keep it up you could just cable tie it yourself.

Once again I'm not sure with the glove compartment having never taken my girlfriends one apart, but on my golf i just looked around for all possible screws, you may need to remove other pannels around it (if there are any).

To mount the inverter i would have a good look around to see if it it can be cable tied as there does not seem to be screw holes on the invertor, other wise maybe a bit of strip of thin metal to bend it around and screw it in place. (obviously not through the front of the dash.

I believe the cd draw would catch on the dash if you put the xbox there, maybe you could put it under the seat if there is room.

I know these answers arnt a great deal of help as i personaly dont own a polo so i haven't done much work on them, but i thought i would give you some general ideas to see if it helps you out.

Thank you, they were helpful I have tried under the seat, but there is no room. :( I know the CD will be stuck, so I was thinking of moving it a little to the right, just never bothered to take a new picture. :p will try the cable-ties any more suggestions is welcomed :)

I'm also interested in this. going to mount my ps2 in the same place eventually in my mk5.

i was thinking get some of those heavy duty cable straps to hold it up.

or, lots of those self adhesive velcro pads. stick 1 to the bottom of the glove box and 1 to the top of the ps2/xbox.

regarding the inverter, id either mount it in the glovebox, under the seat, or next to the ps2/xbox.

That footwell carpet thing happens in my car too. You push it up and then the next day its hanging down again!!

If it was me trying to mount that xbox i would see if i could re-case it somehow. Is it me or are X-box one of the biggest consoles ever should of called it the breeze-blox. Once in a smaller case it could then probably be mounted somewhere a bit more secluded. As for the inverter i would try to see if i could fit it somewhere near the fusebox in the compartment under the steering wheel. I would avoid cutting holes in the dash as when you come to see the car no1 will want it with a big hole cut into it. And the headunit looks as is it just needs a rectangular plastic surround to clip in place to hide the metal case where it locks in.

Where are you from driving a left hooker?

yeah xboxes are extremely bulky, very deep, so could look cack and could kick it everytime someone gets inthe car.

either go for a ps2 or rebox the xbox.

also, haven't thought of where to put the controllers.

unless you have wireless controllers.

also have you sourced a screen?

I had a gamecube with two wavebirds in my previous car, but I gave that to my sister when that car was totaled (A Hiace parked in the rear of it..). I already have the xbox, and a DVD-kit, so thats what I'll be mounting. :) If I don't find a proper location, I'll mount it in the boot, as I had in my previous car. :) There I had a little switch to the power of the inverter, so I could start the gamecube from the drivers seat. Thanks for the good suggestions, just keep them coming... It's fucking cold out, so I'll need plenty of ideas before I'll even consider going out. :p I don't have a screen atm, as I gave it away, but I have a new one on hand, which I'll purchase as soon as the xbox is mounted somewhere. :)

Your Norwegian and you speak better english than some people on here! Search google about re-casing an xbox. I saw one once where some1 had put it all into one of those old school millenium falcon toys from star wars. I'm sure there is loads of others out there....

This is how my ps2 is mounted in my golf glove box, it isnt in my car because some kind person tryed stealing it and i haven't put it back in yet. So thats something else to be careful of, hideing all the expensive stuff you put in.

That didn't look too shabby :) But the glove compartment in my Polo is smaller than that, and the xbox is bigger :( however, I might be able to make something similar, just without the lid? If I removed the entire glove compartment, I think it's wide enough, I just need to make a similar "wall" to that you've built. Does anybody have a little how-to on removing the box? Tried a little bit, but I'm afraid I'll break something.. :p

I found that link of someone talking about rehousing his xbox, i haven't actualy had a look at it so i dont know if it will help you but i saw two tutorial links so it might be of some help to you, or you could message him and ask him for advice.

Unfortunately, I think that's way out of my league :( However, I managed to tighten the cover which kept falling down. I took out the bottom of the glove compartment, and cabletied it up in the holes I was supposed to have the bottom mounted in. Then I pushed the bottom in anyway, worked like a charm ^^

Don't think that cover is strong enough to hold the xbox unfortunately, so I'll have to find another solution I guess. Did also try to find a suitable place for my gamecube (use that instead(I had two ^^)), but no luck...

Is there anyone who could give me a how-to with pictures on how I can wire cables through the car? Need to steal some power from the amp (those cables were there when I bought the car), and this car is TOTALLY different from my previous car (Nissan Primera) :( If not, where is the easiest way to lay a new power cable from the battery (Picture? ^^)

Still need to know how I can remove this cover, as that's where I'll be mounting my switch. Since the sigarette-lightener (don't really know the english word for that.. :p) has "constant" power, I can't wire my screen aso. through that... :( Therefore, I'll need to law a more powerful cable while I'm at it, and also make a switch, so I don't drain the battery :)

What pannel are you talking about in that picture?

If you are tlkaing about the heater contol one i believe the facia will pop out, or if you are talking about the cover under the hazard switch . . . they also jsut pop out.

looks to me like you got bigger problems than trays falling down, someone has put the steering wheel on the wrong side!

firstly, are you going to play that x-box on that little screen :S

secondly, is there not a wire u can buy from ebay that converts to 12v straight away like the ps2's??

also whats that switch between your lece windows? is that heated seats/

@ P20Dub : I'm going to play xbox on a 5,4" or a 7", depending on what fits the best :) played a lot of gamecube on the 7" in my old car, worked like a charm. :) but won't bother to buy a new screeen until I've fitted the console. :)

inverters are bastards, p20DUB's alternative is by far teh best option! far less power hungry too

DAM U!! i need 1 of them switchs and looms , and they dont make them anymore. :'(

Worked fine in the old car, so unless vw has crappier electronics than Nissan, it should work just fine

Too bad for you I live in Norway, as mine doesn't work anyway :p
