Public transport, what a crock of shi.....!

Featured Replies

I spent the last 2 years having to get the bust to and from college. If i didn't have my bus pass it was between 6 and 8 quid return depending on the time of day. Not exaggerating at all, it broke down more oftern than it was on time. As said, you have to put up with old people who REAK of B.O. or animal piss, and the chav scum who insist on listening to terible music on their phone. I'd have to wait on average 20 minutes a day at the bus stop because 9 out of 10 days we'd have the grumpy old bastered who'd be really late, then every now and then there'd be the actualy ok ladie who was normaly on time, so I couldn't just go out to the bus stop later.

Worst part though was that it would regularly make me I'll from the diesel fumes and heat. and would take an hour and a quarter in the morning and an hour to get black in the afternoon. My college is 14 miles from my house. I can comfortably cycle it in an hour and a half on a single speed jump bike. It now takes me about 35 minutes in the morning, and 20 to get home again, I don't end up feeling ill, i don't have a headache and it costs me about 2 quid in petrol, not 6 on a bus ticket.

On the up side though this was only with first, the few times I'd get the cooks coach's buses (didn't get them regularly because they didn't go anywhere near my house) They were always on time, about 3 quid return and took about 40 minutes in a modern, clean bus, that was much comfier. So if they could run a much better service for half the cost, how the hell could first justify charging so much?

Bet that must have been fun. :unibrow:

Being a Bus driver myself i find this thread highly amusing.

Ha check it out. Driving a diesel estate is almost like a bus. Force of habit?

good job my car is blue or i might end up taking one of these home at the end of my shift by mistake lol......

logo1011pic_bus.jpg

I have the car back now.

Was chatting to some guy at VW who was 68 and was pimping about in an black R32

Guys a legend!!

I was going to ask why the hell you were taking the bus, didn't realize you didn't have your car

I hate buses with a passion too. Who doesn't really? A couple of months back my mate was 21 so we went for a night out to a place that's about 30 minutes away in a car from the town I live. We were suppose to have a mini bus there and back but it would have cost loads, so we opted to just get it back instead. We got a service bus there which took nearly an hour and a half. It was stopping in places I didn't even know existed. I was going insane.

We also had some old alcoholic prick at the back telling stories to some strange looking bloke who was sat next to a guy who looked like a right loner and had his laptop out. It's just absolute madness. It makes you realize how lucky you are to be able to drive and afford a car.

I can't even begin to think how shit it must be for people who have to take a bus to work everyday. I hate early mornings as it is, having to depend on a bus would make it even more unbearable. There's a lad I work with who doesn't drive and the only bus that can take him to work sets off at 7:55am and arrives at 8:10am. Work doesn't start until 9:00am.

Update: the guy who smelled of piss on the bus. Was in the supermarket today. Grim.

Even after he walked away, his pissy linger was still about.

Gross, someone needs to hose him down.

what are peoples opinions of mega bus's?

i got from sheffield to london and back for £3

took about 1/2hour-hour longer then driving but was a hell of alot cheaper, didnt have to pay congestion charge or drive in london which is a bonus in itself

the only problem was that it was abit warm

Driving in London's fun!

I'm a bus driver n what i dont understand is why people moan about the bus service. if your not happy with the service dnt use it. get bike mate, call a cab., walk,

there is nothing that can be done about it. buses cant fly over traffic and accidents.

i know alot of drivers r miserable, u try doin the job n see how you feel. u gotta deal dumb arse passengers who r rude, abusive and take all their anger out on the driver, as if its the drivers fault.

I'm probably the nicest driver out there, i wait or people when i see them runnin n try n be as helpful as i can.

but when someone crosses the line, swears at me or wateva I'm switchin cos know i aint done nothin wrong. the least i will do is tell piss off the cos I'm not going nowhere with them on my bus, i'll simply call da police n av them deal with it.

no1 is gettin on my bus givin me the lip, i do know what u mean about miserable drivers, their miserable cos they dnt know how to handle the stress n take it out the passengers jus like passengers take it out on drivers. i deal with it by not thinkin about the job n think about what u gonna do afta work n how u gonna spend your money.

i have a FREE BUS and TRAIN PASS, and i dnt use buses cos i cant rely on them.

i use my bike, i have a scooter and also a car.

i jus do the job 4 the money. last year i earnt over £35000 after a bit of overtime which aint bad for bus driver

so if your not happy with the service, call a cab or get on you bike

cos us drivers dnt giv a shite, peace!

I love buses...they should build loads more but then i reline brake shoes for buses

and they keep me in a job  .The last time i was in Amsterdam i was on a bus

powered by one of those hydrogen cell thingies, quiet as fook they were....

Yeah public transport is a farce in this county, There is hardly any services from Airports after 6pm, there crowded and late. Here in Aberdeen they still use these old Leyland deckchaired things and Firstgroup earn millions in profit, you'd think some decent buses would be on the road.

Thing is here folk use cars cause its a problem and in turn buses aren't on time because of the amount of cars in traffic. Only bonus I see is I can read a book and listen to MP Player, its either that or stuck in queue's wth fellow roadragers....

There are good bus drivers out there, but they seem to be swapped by miserable wankers who seem to want to make your life 10 times harder than it has to be.

Its partly the fact they think its okay to flip you off when they think thats gonna be the start and finish of it but when you block the road, get out of your car and ask them what the fuck there problem is they shit there pants and call the police.

If you don't want shit then don't start it, simple as.

I'm not saying your that kind of driver, but there are plenty out there that are.

Hahaha, just seen this post. I am using poverty transport at the moment as my gearbox has gone, I can't believe the phucktards you get on the trains in the morning, obviously don't have enough brain cells to rub together added to that the delays. I was affected by the Liverpool St station closure, the same day my fair went up, b'stards Anyhoo, stripped the gearbox out this weekend so she'll be back on the road faaaairly soon.

If they dont accept your change did you know you can just get on the bus... You have offered to pay!!!

My dads a bus driver! but he loves it! So he is a smiley one :D

so was my dad, and my grandad in the 1970's & 1980's, and they were smiley ones too.

It's information like this that makes you want to try it out!!

Buses in London can be a bit of a nightmare at peak times but the Trains are absolutely wicked.

I have to get on two lines. The central line is always jam packed BUT there is always one train behind the other waiting to enter the platform every single minute. And the district line runs like clockwork. Overall it costs me £1 each way on my Oyster for a 30 minute journey which consists of 10 stops.

Far cheaper than driving in my Lupo. Although if I had my Polo that would be a good match.

the thing we r not permitted to get out of the bus to fight people as we r at work, its not that we shit our pants. i nearly lost my job once i did that. bloke got leary with me n stepped out of his car so i stopped my bus got out to see if he was bluffin. i had to let him hit me first so that i can argue self defence on my part. afta he swang 4 for me it was all over 4 him. some1 must av called da police cos while i had the bloke in a headlock the police pulled up. i was glad cos i thought i'd have him done 4 strating the fight. instead i get discipline at wrk for getting out of my bus and for using more force than necessary, if i wasnt in the union i reckon i wudve been sacked. they also made me go counselling, idiots.

anyway i still have my job and i do value it as it pays the mortgage, so i will not be doin that again. what i do now is simply tell them i am work now and i finish at this time so jus bring it.

there r more d;ckhead car drivers than d;ckhead busdrivers

TBH, I think you should have been disciplined if you have a bus full of people and doing something like that. You are supposed to be providing a service, not playing at WWF.

I think its safe to say no one is really permitted to fight at work unless they are some kind of professional fighter.

My point is, if your not permitted to fight and you won't fight then don't do things that provoke fights.

I pulled in to let a bus pass by once and I got the idiot sign off the bloke as he drove past. No need for it, he was jut being a big fat idiot and poo'd himself when I asked him what his reasoning behind it was. You can understand someone being pissed off if say, I had cut him up or something but the fact I pulled in and flashed him through gives him no reason to do that. i doubt hes permitted hand out idiot signals like there free candy either, but that never stopped him.

TBH, I think you should have been disciplined if you have a bus full of people and doing something like that. You are supposed to be providing a service, not playing at WWF.

at the end of the day I'm a human being and centainly not perfect. i was a new driver at the time,i wasnt sure how to handle the situation so i jus dealt with it like if i was in my car.

i was jus making a point to the bloke that said bus drivers shit their pants when theres agro.

i know I'm supposed to be providing a service but we r not robots. if someone assaults you in any way you r not fit to drive, as it will affect your driving.

the bloke was at one point kicking the doors, so i simply explained to the passengers i was gonna see what this bloke wanted. theres nothing wrong with that. its not my fault he went for me otherwise i would not av touched him.

oh and the reason why he kicked off is because i didnt let him cut me up from the wrong lane. if he had indicated and waited 4 me to give way he could of prevented all this.

you can only understand if you give it a try. now I've been doin it for 3 years i luv it. I'm friendly with all the passengers and i even get sweets n fruits from some of the regulars. other drivers get sod all cos most of them r actually arseholes when at work but afta work their absolute diamond. u will understand why they r arseholes if u were to give it a try.

their r more d;ckhead car drivers than d;ckhead bus drivers.

Probably not as a percentage. I was being tailgated by one with a bus full of kids this morning.

I know your supposed to give to way to busses but they normally act like they own the road. Like if your half way past them and they start indicating they ALWAYS start to pull out and forwards! Dangerous and stupid.

Anyone see that program yesterday about traffic and cyclists? On about how buses and lorries don't see the cyclists and just knock them over..
