Howdy one and all,

Fitted a front Ged bar to MrPs car the other day, just a long rod with flat sections to bolt it onto the car. It got me thinking. Does it have to be round, and in that shape? Could i angle grind a flat section off my spare rear axle and drill bolt holes through it? Or am i being a 'tard as usual?

as long as it isnt gnna bend, the cross section shape of the bar is irrelevant surely ?

I used a piece of 1" box section for mine!

doubt a piece of flat bar would be much use, too bendy. But whether you used square or round tube isn't really going to make much difference.

So if i used just a length of the rear axle with two sides, it would be okay? Or is that gona be too heavy? Maybe i need something thinner and lightweight.

you mean a piece of angle? I guess that'd work but cutting a piece of old axle will look a mess and you'll probably end up spending more on angle grinder discs than it'd cost you to just buy a length of angle iron from B&Q
