Admiral - put your parents/grandparents on as named drivers too.

Ill give them a try.

thanks

I tried admiral,

£2260 tp was the cheapest with parent.

I'm with c.i.s. for my 1043cc 1988 hatchback polo which set me back 1092 quid fully comp. i have to do pass plus in 3 months tho. third party is more expensive with these guys though. have a go with confused.com so then u can change things to see how to make it cheaper (e.g. some companys do fully comp cheaper etc)

you tried admiral and it was 2k + as a named river

i tried them last month and they wanted £624 fully comp on a 1.4 6n as a named driver. however now they dont let me get a quote saying phone them up, trying to rip me of

I've tried most of the camparison sites the cheapest on those was £1500 FC,

Direct line and Ecar are the cheapest I've found at £1308 and £1304 TPFT

those are with full licence

(£1046 with Quinn is the cheapest with a provisonal)

liverpool victoria

i went with FRIZZEL as soon as i passed my test at 17, got insured on a mitsubishi carisma 1.6 in my mums name and me as the named driver for £500 now I'm insured on my 6n 16v (grp 10) which i got 2months beofre my 18th, again in my mums name but stil its only 1200.

problem is i cant get insured with anyone in my own name until I'm 21 with the 16v!!!!! (unless anyone knows otherwise and wishes to tell me)

LV was £1400 TP.

direct line are cheaper.

(are you a member of one of the groups to use FRIZZEL?)

try first choice they quoted me £1,300 on a 1.6 Sir civic, every other insureer was quoting me way more than 6K!

clb, ye I'm a member of CSMA cos my mums civil servant and I'm in the TA but i kno my mate has a policy with them on a 1.8zetec focus and its 1300 fc and he aint part of any groups, i dont know if frizzel allow mods either :(

I'm gonna try frizzel see how much they give me a quote for. never heard of them before today

btw I'm only 17 aswell

I'm with bell they're quite good

And also I've heard that some insurance companys are seeing it as fraud if you have a parent as a main driver and a younger driver as a 2nd name driver and not allowing it.

but not alwyas a prob, like my mum owns the car, drives it mostly but seeing as I'm into cars she says i can do it up if i want.

probs arise when say if i owned the car, but the policy was in my mums name and she never drove it. thats what one of my mates did he had a 306 registered in his name but insured under his mums and directline cancelled the policy so it was reregistered into his mums name

Hmm.. they were asking silly money for my Polo as well.. i managed to put Dad as registered keeper, main driver again pops, me as occasional driver. Though it was a 1ltr my name i was being quoted 1300+ (cheapest through uncle was £1044.. not bad) but with dsaddykins there i got it for 476 fully comp :)

It's a shame i crashed the car though :( It's why i signed up here...

The best thing to do is do a confused quote, then ring round the top ten working your charm and getting them to price off against each other.

try CIS it has been mentioned in another post, that they are giving huge discounts for new policies and for policies bought over the net
