With CIS? READ!

Featured Replies

Hi guys, My brother has just got a little polo 1.0. He is older then me (24) but has never had his own insurance. He rang CIS and it came out to be £22 per month. Which just so happened to be cheaper then mine! I'm 22 in a mk.2 1.3 and i pay £45 per month. I've had the policy for 5 years might i add! This got me thinking. So i got a quick Quote on there website.. Turns out you get a massive discount at the moment for new polices and for taking it out online.. I rang them up and had a bit of a moan.. and i am now paying £15 PER MONTH!! AMAZING!! saving £30 pm for the sake of a phone call..

I was just pleased and thought you might like to know.. If your with CIS i suggest you try the same.. get a quote of the net first tho and then quote you are price to them over the phone!!

:-D :-D :-D  :-) :-) :-)

Good call! Literally. I am with CIS too. Do you know what they are like with cosmetic mods? I havnt declared any yet as my wheels and suspension are'nt on yet do you know if they hike it up much if its just cosmetic?

I've not really declared any mods tbh! but its becuase they are cosmetic!? just wheels and suspension... so i cant really help u there mate!? sorry!

That was my plan aswell just wanted to make sure i wasnt the only 1 doing it!

And named drivers get thier own NCB

just got a quote and its £1274 fully comp on my valver, I'm currently paying 1200 but dont get my NCB, is there anyway of getting out of my current insurance and going with them as it seems a better idea to pay 74 more for 1yr NCB

small print: Named drivers start to earn their own No Claim Discount from age 19, so the first time they will be eligible for Named Driver No Claim Discount is from the age of 20. http://www.cis.co.uk/servlet/Satellite?c=P...ndard&loc=l

It also starts from when the policy was taken out. On my grandads car, I've been a named driver since September 2005 (ages 18). I turned 19 in November. I phoned up last month and I've only got 1 years no claims, so it counts from being 19 at the time the policy was taken out/renewed.

I'm going to check this out. Cheers!

I just did a quote. It's £200 cheaper for the year for mine. I'm ringing them up in the morning!

Surely that would invalidate your insurance. You may have done it to make the car look good, but insure company will see that a modification. In many cases, if not all, uprated suspension and brakes improves the handling but none specailist insurance companies do not see it that way. They see it as none factory hence up the premium!

If you get caught you wll get shafted!

Bolly

PS-I am intrigued how you got that discount though, surely its for new customers only like an intorductory offer on credit cards....fair play!

Remember people - the named drivers NCB is only valid with CIS, most other companies won't count it.

If you haven't declared your rims and lowering you might as well not have insurance!

Any idea's who's cheapest to go with so i can drop mine on some coillies and get some rims, but so i declare them.

might b difficult bein 18 in a 16v?

Yes it will! trust me! i had a golf gti when i was 18 and i was financially raped!

FYI: When i got my quote with CIS it was cheaper to go fully comp!! i checked this with them over the phone an its right! even he said "dont ask m why" ??? weird!

I'm pretty sure CIS aren't very good with modifications, they told me that i couldn't lower my car at all and i can only change wheels if they are the same size as already on the car at the moment. Seriously no point having insurance if you haven't got modifications declared since i did have an accident while i was with CIS and i basically ended up forking out for damage which was caused by the other driver, because if i had told CIS about the accident and found the mods on my car, my policy most definately would have been void!! luckily the other driver did not report the accident since her car only had minor damage. which is why i have got all my mods declared now

Does the old "it was like that when i got it" work?

haha doubt it (although accident with coilovers = wind them right up and say u had no idea what they were???)

i dont recon 1200 in the 16v is too bad considerein i got it wen i was 17.

CIS seem decent apart from mods

They've been like that for 2 years at least far as I know. It's really odd that one

yep cis is prob ably the best insurance company out there. after getting quotes for £2000 to £3000 for a 1043cc mk2 polo from other insurance, i rang cis and got a quote for £1092 amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CIS are only the broker anyway guys! They have a load of insurers that they get quotes from for you and get you the best price. I'm with CIS, but insured by Highway Insurance. Adrian Flux is also a broker. Their best quote was also from Highway Insurance for me, but it was about £50 more than the one from CIS. As for modifications, I'm on a so called "modified" policy, and I'm not getting raped for my shocks and springs, I've had them since I've had the car though so I don't know what they are like when adding more to it. I'm 21 with a valver btw.

[and it's been a good session of cold meats, alcohol and board games all boxing night;)]

just a note CIS wont insure you with ANY mods that goes for alloys too, I'm with them and gave them a rang asking about alloys :(

CIS DONT allow ANY modifications...just thought id let you know :)
