Just got an email back from the guy from Bassett wheels. I asked about the offset and he said they can offer either 1", 2", 3" or 4" 'back spacing' which is the measurement from the back of the hub surface to the inner edge of the wheel. How will that relate to the offset??

Plus does anyone have any idea about organising shipping as they dont have any shipping contacts in the UK??

I'd like to put Bassett Racing Wheels on my street car. Are all your wheels safe for street use?

We do not recommend using any Bassett Racing Wheel on the street except those specifically stamped DOT. While all Bassett Racing Wheels have been rotary fatigue tested to withstand incredible cornering loads, the Unitied States Department of Transportation regulates on-highway wheel standards. A wheel must have a minimum shell material thickness of .125" and fit a Tire and Rim Association profile gauge in order to be stamped DOT. Bassett Racing Wheels are primarily used for closed course racing and as such are designed to be the lightest possible. Most of our wheel rim shells use material that is less than .125". Our rim shell profiles are designed to build a variety of backspaces and make tire mounting / dismounting easier, so most do not conform to Tire and Rim Association DOT profiles. Watch out for a surprise import tax off our friendly customs and excise. They can put a dampers on the price.

In answer to my own question above about the offset...was thinking about it last night and if the back spacing is 4" on an 8" wheel thats going to make the offset ET0 isnt it? And the less the back spacing gets the smaller the offset is going to get which basically means they arent gona fit a polo...unless you get super wide arches??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but think that makes sense...which is a shame cos i well want a set!

Yeah my bad...i was basing it on the 15x8s as thats what i was looking at. Forgot about the 14x7s...in which case the offset would be about +12/13?? which would be quite nice

The second ones look bloody amazing in black!! Wouldn't order from USA tho, bet it would cost like at least £600 to get just the 4 wheels into the UK...

They will pull your pants down with import tax.
