Oh right, I'm hopefully picking up a gti engine, box, shafts and ancilillries(sp) /. What else would I need to convert my AFH to this? ECU? Could I use the AFH looms?

Chars blud

the mk4 16v box is crap! tops out about 122. Not sure on the gti But i'm sure its longer!

is 128 with 185/55/14

think gti box is 137

surely thats speedo speed... not your actual speed

well I dunno, pretty sure those numbers are from the gearbox spreadsheet

195/45/15 on the rev limiter was indicated 125 on Tomtom

Cheers Jez...i was hoping you'd join into the thread and sort out my doubts.

I'm picking up the 16v mk4 box off of captain fox tomorrow...should have a smile on my face soon! :-D

how did you get on with fitting it dude ? :)

I've think to be honest it doesn't matter, all the 16v boxes of late mk4's into mk5's are good to go, and as for ratios, i'm much more kken on having the short box more go, and no one really needs to do 137 on the road, but if you're gonna use it everyday be better for fuel.

I've gone with a box from a 1400 in the gti i just did and it's really good, nice poke to it, the box i used is late mk4 16v

And if your clever while it's out you should split it and check the pinion bearing, they are shit and always go, quick job and costs about £12 to do, you'll be gutted if it's in for 5 mins then starts whining it's little head off !
