Featured Replies

I had 165/55/13 on GT steels. Looked really good imo. But my car was down 80/70 so dunno how it would look on 40.

Not exactly the best pic, but gives you a rough idea...

I reckon 165/60s would be better if your lowering less.

thanks!

yeah i agree want a bit more typre hidden buy the rear arch. or i need to go lower

anyone with 175s? or am i being optomistic

165/65's fit on 5 1/2" x 13" Coupe GT steels very nicely.

I'm 99% sure you'll get 175/60's on the same wheel size (without any arch work) as long as you centralize the rear beam first.

There are some squareback friendly VAG 14x6 ET45 steelies out there btw.

thanks chaps.

i would prefer to keep my 14s nick as i just got new tyres a few months ago.

cheers breadman! i have a single 165/65's in the garage so i might try it on see what rooms left.

I used to have 185/60 R13s on the coupe S with 5.5j wheels. It was absolutely fine, even when down 60mm all around. 185 on a 5.5j rims actually standard on some cars like metros, so nothing to worry about width wise.

There is on a squareback because of the arch shape. Coupes can house much bigger wheels.

i ran 175/60s on 13s with no trouble on my gt square, no arch mods either, just nice standard offset and 5.5j width alloys was down 40mm too. the guy who bought it off me slammed it on 16s!

Ah right, I knew the squares were tighter, but didn't realise it was by that much. I still had loooadds of clearence when down 60, so thought a squareback might be ok with a smaller drop.

i'm running 175 60 13s on gt steel, no mods whats so ever, doesnt rub even with people in the back/cornering.

looks pretty mean too.

thank you!

polo pete thats what i like to here! you got any photos mate?

bare in mind my car is standard ride height, nah no pics i'm afraid, i'll try tomorrow if it isnt raining.

165/65/14's with 40mm drop (new nissan micra size tyre's i'm told) on my Sq .

No probs front or rear but i bet it will rub on the rear arches when i drop it 70/60 cos the rear tyres are very close.

sadly i dont have any pics. i might see if the guy who bought it has though cos it did look kinda funny, but almost good! they did scrub a bit on the front, but the backs werent that bad as the arches had been trimmed.

i used that size too, you might find they need a very slight amount of trimming on the arch lips, only a couple of mm though. i used a file to do mine, but just be careful you dont trim past the spotwelds!

Ah no worries, just one of those things i couldn't picture/believe till i've seen pics. What kind of wheels are they? Must be narrow surely?

some fox alloys cant remember what model they were, they were done in a black chrome finish, dont think they were very wide, wide enough to catch the front arch lip when he took it along a very bumpy back road! looked like a bit of a pimp mobile

here we go, nice sunny day, i think it looks alreeet.
