mk3 Centre console trouble!!

just got the lower part to the centre console today, tried to fit it but it doesn't seem to sit right.

its about 1inch away from where you screw it in!

is there any trick to getting it in?

push! it should just slide into place, then you just have the two self tappers to fit

make sure the square for the heater ducting lines up,and the two (i think) guides at the handbrake end slot in
