i'd have a lupo gti if i could afford to buy/insure one i think they're amazing!

Hope the owner doesn't mind me posting this, but i'm in love. Looks to kill and the performance...wow. Same league as an R32, same insurance too..but the DC2 thrashed the R32 on a circuit race I watched. Third of the price. I'm too excited.

lupo gti - lighter, got the 6 speed so more reliable but a bit overpriced

Golf gti mk4's - too common

Integra type R - older car, a real nice looker & if you plan on using it as a track car then go for it

personally though for a road car i'd look into an ibiza cupra, you get the rarity value, but with a reliable VW lump in it, without the price tag, easily tunable as well.. and in a straight line you will beat an integra with a simple remap or upgrade the turbo to IHI to see 350bhp+ 0-60 under 4.8....like to see a integra do that.....hardly a super car...we'll leave that to the NSX i think

all the other typical choices, skyline, evo, impreza, old civic etc.... lovely cars...but high milers, old, so high servicing costs

Think you're pretty spot on there.

Well if you'r talking about like the '02 1.8 20VT models they cost nearly as much the the ITR anyway.

Granted they are fast cars but as standard the ITR is still quicker. So for the money on remap+turbo you could tune the type R some more if you wanted more raw power.

As previously mentioned though the ITR is about being well balanced with a stiff chassis and comes like a high performance as standard, (Recaro seats, Brembo brakes, a close ratio manual gearbox, a limited-slip differential, and a stiffer suspension) for an all round racy driving experience.

VW is reliable but the Vtec is bulletproof.

Ofourse alot about buying a car is how much you like the look of it aswell, and i'm not overly keen on the Seats.

you wouldnt need a new turbo to make the ibiza faster, a simple remap would do it, a turbo upgrade would shit all over an integra, my cupra would....and tuning wise i doubt the engine will be that easy to get more horses out of whereas the 1.8 lump comes in TT's & leon cupra R's alike & as i said people are running stupid power. But that aside i do agree, the vtec is a fantastic engine, and i love the look of the car from the front, but the back end is not nice IMO, thats the reason why i never looked into one..and as you say looks matter, and the fact that i could get something newer and far more tunable, I'm a bit of a performance nut....

out of the Honda's i've always fancied the accord type R or the obvious ek9, they are so nice looking....mmmm

Clio 172 is prob best value for money in my opinion hehe

Its not as bad as you think. Better materials have been used inside the car compared to the non sports (I've owned both)

I can't fault mine... excellent handling... very quick! Get a 172 cup :)

Looks like i'm dead set on a ITR now! I was never this excited thinking about getting a Lupo/Polo Gti!

If I was younger/couldn't afford the insurance then i'd probaly look at the Polo Gti, tomo87 one is nice.

For the record I have read the Clio Sports do seem to be better built than the standard clios and also ALOT of fun to drive. For me they look too much like a standard clio and theres about 10 down every road.

I'm looking into a JDM ITR DC2 for my next car.

My mate used to have the UK spec model and it was a fantastic car to drive, owned most things at track days too!

Well guys I thought i'd update this as I said I would. Thanks for everyone who took part in this thread, I now have my pride and joy :)

Bought it pretty much standard. Replaced both H badges (front is old in pics) and applied new side decals.

Did a front brake conversion to 282mm, look huge behind the 15" rims! Fitted brake master cylinder brace and have a set of Eibach springs yet to fit.

Oh and fitted HIDS aswell, prob one of the best mods.

I thought my car would always be a dub, but this is so much fun.

3000 revs??? dont be silly, they kick in around 6000-8500 or the other way around!

Yeah the vtec kicks in at 5800 - roughly 8500 I forget exact figure! That's where you wanna be though, the sound is incredible! It just pulls & pulls. I have the same exhaust as in this vid

That's fair enough, if fuel and servicing wasn't an issue i'd possibly have an evo or skyline r33. Although plenty of folk have owned those and still come back to the integra as they miss it. The thing with Integra is it's only a 1.8 n/a engine but puts out 200bhp standard which is very impressive, and because of it's light weight and excellent chassis/lsd/double wishbone suspension it's very able around the track and will easily match the 2.0 turbo big boys of the same era.

It's got to be witnessed to be appreciated, the first time vtec kicks in you can't stop smiling.

haha o kwl, thats just what my mate said, but he was on about civic type Rs... he said he could hear it racing someone through his window, and the engine just seemed to speed up insanely at about 3000 and then it was gone lol... i wanna hear it!!!
