only thing that iam worryed about

Hey up,

As always when buying a car just use your eye's & ears. What has it been used for? Builders truck or general farm work??

Which engine is it?

Around the body check the load bed area but don't be put off if it's been badly dented as it can be replaced in time. If you think it's carried alot of weight check the rear axle & leaf springs for signs of stress.

Check the tailgate, these are rare to find in decent condition 2nd hand so make sure it opens & shuts, you will also probably find it looks like a bananna.

Check the sills, they are prone to rot on the join halfway down the vehicle, also just check the condition of wings doors etc.

Nothing on them is expensive to replace, I chose mine just because it had no rot on it, but looked like it had been to Beruit & back.

Price wise....depends on engine, but normally you can beg them!!1

Let us know how you get on

General farm work is cool, probably won't have carried too much weight, just check the service history then & have a good peep around the engine bay then (all the normal checks) if you intend to run the original engine.

There was either a 1.6 diesel or 1.6 petrol.

Gearboxes were either 4 or 5 speed, try & get the 5 speed as the 4 speeds are awful.

i aranged to have a good look at it and its rottern underneth so iam back on the hunt !

buy mine

HoppyGTi, do you know if you can get replacement pannels for the bed?

I might be buying a caddy off a mate to restore and sell on. Its got a few mechanical issues (wheel bearings, CV joint, Carb) and a rusty bed. So we'll sort that out easy enough.

Normal story with farm vehicles I'm afraid.

There are some out there that seem to want big money for their rides, just keep looking.

Colour may go one of 3 ways yet, still haven't decided yet

Urm, the sills are rotten (by the doors) Engine isn't a runner. Alot of the panels have been replaced. Bed is in nice condition, With some tlc it could be made good

The engine has just been stood & needs going through before it's used really.

Colour will be a classic colour really i think. Don't want to go too "Scene" as it will date quick i reckon

most places you look on the web for a caddy you will be paying scene tax on top these days i'm afraid. the best thing to do is just keep an ear out for one thats 'off the rader' so to speak like the one hoppy is on about. i've saw pics of it and apart from the sills it looks in good condition. there are still bargains out there to be had, you just need to bide your time and wait for the right one, my mates just paid 800 for this one...

although after spending some time in a garage with it it now looks like this...

it still needs a few more coils cutting off the front springs, and maybe another slab or 2 in the back to get the wheels right in the arches, he did have the front bumper off it as well but he's put that back no cause he's a homo.

grind your pikey u bolts off! lol
