6n door speakers

Featured Replies

tweeters - might need to make a new mount, the grill is just clipped in so pop it off and take a look at the existing mount (it is also just held in by some plastic tabs)

crossovers will fit behind the door cards

if you have a 3 door there is space at the edge of the door to the side of the door pocket, with a 5 door as the door is shorter there is no room there, I managed to fit mine here:

however as you're going to fit the tweeters in the original location it may be easier wiring-wise to fit the crossovers behind the dash?

hmmive got a 3 door so thats a good option atleast ther out of the way there as for tweeters lookin at the ones supplied with the set I'm gettin they look quite small so i may just keave the standard dash ones wer they are and find somwhere else for the new tweeters

That's really quite a neat idea. mine are in the boot with two speaker wires runing back to the front of the car, one for the tweets, one for the woofers, you save a lot of cable doing it this way though :)

(The previous owner wired it up)(I'm sure I would have thought to do this ;) )

haha agreed! this is a very clever idea as they look stupid on view IMO

well mine aren't on view - under a false floor, but I do agree with you there!

what adapter ?

I need the adapter with which the speakers are screwed and attached to the door, but it seems to be very hard to find because I have checked several places and the only available are 6n2 onwards...

there shouldnt be any adapters i think the speakers screw to the door panel mate if my memory serves me right,

and does anybody know if 6n dash tweeters are wired 2 the door speakers and then 2 the head unit

I've heard somewhere on here that there is and infact when I collected my door cards from VW they told me about it and that it's not available to buy from VW.

Without it you cannot attach the speakers to the door. Will they be secure enough if screwed directly to the door panel?

hmm I'm not actually sure on second thoughts I'm gettin new speakers soon and they should just screw straight in were the stanard ones are so I'm not really sure what this adapter is sorry mate

np mate, I'm sure that you won't have any problem but my polo did not come with door speakers that's y I don't have this adapter as standard.

I think what I'm after is the black piece that the speaker is attached to in the pictures above.

Ah that makes sence. How come your car came with no speakers? The black blastic bit is required to mount them, but I'm sure that would come as part of the door kit. :?

Have you taken the door card off and know that you don't have any? If so get down to a scrappers, they'll all have them! And unlike most things they probably wont have been destroyed by somebody taking something else out in the past!

the speaker bracket above is a VW part, screws into the door behind the door card

should be able to pick a pair up from the scrapyard / any cars being broken or from VW

i may just keave the standard dash ones wer they are and find somwhere else for the new tweeters

that's what I did - fitted the new tweeters in the door mirror interior trim panels, was easier for me as the front comps are amped I just unplugged the oem speakers from the headunit and left all the wiring and original tweeters alone

did take pics of the tweeters installed but it looked a bit of a bodge, ended up completely redoing it and they look almost oem now in my opinion, will see if I can take some half decent ones later

yes it came only with dash speakers as standard, unfortunately here in Malta scrappies are not available so I have to buy them from somwhere else. VW said it ain't a VW part and in fact I can't find it on ETKA.

if it's not pouring with rain again tomorrow I'll whip my door cars off and see if they have a part number on them

they need to come off anyway, need to have a fiddle with the tweeter volume

thanks for that, when u do check post here or pm me please. thanks mate

was rummaging through the 2nd hand forum looking for a few bits and stumbled across these

(neb is selling them)

poloo007.jpg

can't see the part number though, but as you can see they are vw parts ;)

anyway - will come back with a part number tomorrow weather permitting

thanks mate, I really appreciate. Are these for sale, can you give me the link maybe he's able to ship to Malta?

sorry for the delay, been having fun with my foglights... :|

(Right side one)

if you speak to vw I would imagine they'd be able to sort you out with the pair if you quote that part number

thanks a lot mate, sorry for not replying before, I bought them from neb thanks to you! :-)

cheers

I put some £40 Sony jobbies in mine, They aren't the mutts nutts but I have sony everything else and i didn't want to replace everything

Why would you have to replace everything?

sony is pants and not many companies make good everything ;)

usually best to pic different things from different manufacturers

being skint, what would the best bet be then, buying those infinity speakers and some 10cm for the dash and wiring it up to a 50quid sony headunit... would that sound good or would it need amping ideally?

the infinities are components they come with tweeters to mount in the dash ;)

what size speakers fit in doors for mk4 polo
