Just wondering if anyone could help me?!

I am upgrading the brakes on my G40 to four pots and i know that i can put a VW 22mm master cylinder on to reduce the pedal travel... BUT i have been told there are two different ones that will fit,

A 22.2 mm unit from a mk2 golf gti

or

A 22.5 mm unit from a mk3 golf/passat VR6

Can anyone confirm wether this is true and if so do they both fit?

If so does the size difference make a great deal of difference?

I don't know about the 22.5mm unit if it exists, but the 22.2 Golf one is the one most people use.

there is a 22.0mm and a 22.2mm both will fit, 23mm master cylinders found on later golfs wont however (I'm not sure if they will physically bolt up but I'm pretty sure the unions are different to the mc) may be completely wrong

just make sure the mk2 golf gti is a 16v, the 8v has a 20mm master cylinder (or so I'm lead to believe, as I've stripped two from scrappie finds only to find out have 20 stamped ont side)

what shouldnt really be a problem as long as it connects to the servo in the corrent way and has connections for the brake lines, if you need more connectiosn they can be split via t-pieces

its the sharan jobbie a 4 porter? and which reservoir as your using?

HIJACK: Would the golf 22..2 mm fit a 6n 8v?
