Subframes for Bucket seats.

Featured Replies

Hi,

i might be pickin up a pair of Cobra seats today and was looking for subframe advice. Ebay has some for the Polo at £55.00 plus deliver for seats but i dont know if they are suitable for Cobra seats. (i dont know which model they are)

Whats probly the cheapest place for them?

Also how difficult would it be to fabricate some using maybe Mk2 golf seats or something?

Cheers

Tom

If you have some old seat bases and can weld it's very easy to make a subframe.

Tthe only old seats i got are Mk2 golf... any good? if not may be able to source some.. but my welding isnt brill... is it the same/smilar process to that described for Porsche Seats?

I've got Scirocco seats in my mk1 Golf and these are regularly used in Polo's and mk2's so I would say that they are pretty much the same.

Ok, thanks. didnt know if they may be too tall or anything.

are they the leather scirocco storm seats? They are nice. got some in my mk1 :-D

No, only the GT2, but they are very good for a cheap common seat. They also lowered my head by 4-5" which makes a huge difference when you're 6'5".

Adam, That looks really good. Thanks for the thread link.

Think will wait til next week and maybe have a go at it. Is it hard to get them straight?

Yeha - Still, they are nice seats i was lookin at the, but found golf gti seats instead.

cant complain at my mk1 seats, came in the car already but one is battered and needs a re-covering which could be expensive
