Got round to getting the bike carbs on......

Only got her running around an hour ago. The video is loud due to the exhaust not being connected

Can't wait to hook up everything properly and drive her :-D

Still got to sort out the throttle cable, choke cable and water pipes. I've also got to mount the facet pump and filter king head and wire up the pump properly and connect up the exhaust.

Really want to hear it without the exhaust drowning out the induction noise

Was the manifold easy to make up?

What did you use for it?

It wasn't too bad to be honest, i used 38mm o.d. steel pipe for strength.

Inlet runners 2+3 line up just fine but 1+4 have to be offset a little

I take it you made 4 steel plates up used a 38mm hole saw and then welded the tube in the holes using a mig welder or similar?

Making the manifold was the bit i got stuck on when i was proceeding ahead with my bike carb project

Any reason why you can't cut the flange of an existing inlet manifold, then drill that, then port match it to the head, and weld tubes onto it? Could that work?

Couple more questions; is the flywheel a machined standard item, or not? And what ignition setup is that, I can't see the vacuum advance?

The standard polo inlet manifold is a strange alloy isnt it?

Can imagine that it could be very hard to weld

Making metal plates is easy peasy anyways, my problem was not being able to weld

The ignition set up is from an MH engine which is found in post '85 polo coupe S's and mk2 golf 1.3's. There is a vacuum take off for advance on inlet runner number 4 which is out of sight.

I'm using a facet electrical interrupter type pump with a filter king filter/pressure regulator for fuel delivery.

The bike carbs are off of a CBR 600

The cam will be a PSD P1NA 268/268 but for the moment (few teething problems to sort out) i'm using a standard GT cam

this time after the exhaust has been adapted and bolted up together so you can hear the induction noise (tappets have not yet settled in!)
