as the resister goes on the blower...

does your blower work but only on full speed? if so its the resistor

if your windows take ages to demist it probs the matrix might be clogged or leaking, thats taking into account to waited for the car to get to temp before trying to use the demisters

It only works on the third setting, as a result of this I haven't had a go at sampling it's demisting ability! It's really loud on the third setting (more so than on my other polo)

Head down to the scrappy mate an take a resister of a couple of polos just to be sure you get one that works, you wont have to pay just put em in you are pocket there tiny

Same thing on mine too, apparently a common problem on mk2/3 polos.

Grungeisdead is correct in what he is saying aboot the resistor pack; blower could probably do with a declog/clean

You can repair your own!! cut the coils of wire off and solder some new wire in its place. All you need to do is pay attention on how much wire is on each side cos if you get it wrong all three speeds will be full.

When mine died, I bought one from a breakers... Didn't look at it too hard... took it home, plugged it in... and that one was blown too... Couldn't be bothered to go scrappy hunting in the freezing cold, so wandered into my local electronics shop, and the bloke put a meter over the remaining bits of resistance ire, and sold me a new thermal fuse and a couple of appropriate resistors... A couple of quid cahnged hands, and a little light soldering later, it went back on the car... Good as new.
