Right really need to get some better brakes on the front of my Mk3 Polo

Got all the bits for the rear disc conversion and a bigger master cyl

I have been looking at the Wilwood 256mm kit (Mk1 golf) - even though it says they will fit under 14s does anyone have any experience with them?

I have Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 wheels ET35

Any ideas?

yes I have them on my g40. they just about fit under the seat arosa 14" wheels I have using 6mm spacers (which some with the kit from Rally Design anyway). I had to tickle a couple of bits of the strut with an angle grinder to allow the brackets to fit but nothing difficult.

Whether they'll fit under your wheels or not depends on the inside shape of the spokes. All you can do is juyst buy the kit and see. Then if the wheels dont fit either buy bigger spacers or swap the wheels for different onces.

Hmm am very tempted by this to say the least!

Are they the mid lite calipers?

The wilwood calipers only work with their own pads dont they?

I am severely tempted to get some of these! What are they like on the 256's?

i have a g60 setup atm but i dont want to run massive spacers to clear my wheels.

What comes in the complete kit?

I'm thinking about just buying the calipers.

also i take it u have 2 order these for a mk1 golf gti??? and they are the same so will fit the same on a mk3 polo??

oh and what is the difference between the mk1 golf kit and the mk2 golf kit on rally design?

the mk1 golf kit fits on a mk1 golf (and a mk3 polo), the mk2 golf kit fits on a mk2 golf.

Hmm, I may have to swap mine in that case!

Word of warning: Watch out for the Mk1 Golf kits- some Wilwood calipers don't use dust jackets between the piston and caliper, meaning over time and use on the road, in wet weather or salty surfaces, they will stick, then bind, then finally seaze, unless you routinely take the caliper apart and clean the piston etc- pain in the arse.

Our kits won't require any cutting of struts (not the greatest idea anyway!) and will use a dust jacketed caliper :-)
