magazine feature

Featured Replies

Yeah every morning when I come into work I see Dan's (D9OLO) Polo on the LCD screen in reception from its feature in Max. It's changed since. All the best cars do.

I would never build a car to be featured in a magazine as it doesn't make sense to me to do that. But if I got offered a feature in a magazine I'd not say no, would be nice to know people appreciate the amount of work that goes into building cars!

I don't understand the idea of building a car for a magazine. All that money for 15mins of fame!

i bet also if the editor likes it, it will get in the mag,

but yeah i wouldnt build a car to try an get into a mag, build a car that is your own personal thing..

how you like it well your the one gonna be driving it.

Me neither. Surely it'd be cheaper to bribe a mag to feature your medium sauce modified car?

i agree with not building it just for a feature but i think he just wants some greater purpose to spending his money, as so far its all been performance related spending,

the way it worked with mine, I was at a show and they came up to me asking if I wanted a feature, I gave them a date I was avaliable and they travelled up to scotland only thing is it took nearly 9 months to appear in the mag and was desperate to see the pics

yer i thought thats how it would work, plenty of time before next years shows i guess, i dont think it helped he changed his mind from a drag style car to a show car lol

also get bored once its been featured and want something different... :D

needs a 20v first...

i never started with my car to get it featured, i mean for one its my daily and i use it everyday to uni/work and back, lives on the drive at night not in a garaged or anything. my cars a hobby to me and i enjoy it, using it etc. trailor queens annoy me as they're perfect and make me want to get my car that extra bit better even though i know its not possible!

or post em some pics and slip a 20 note in the enlope

lol

i never built my car for mags or shows, i built the car for ME, the fact it's had so many features and won so many trophies is a bonus.

Kam you got it in one there.

They will come to you. To say your car will be in a mag one day is a bit big headed in my eyes. Build it for your self and enjoy it.

Dan you have PM son.

I got asked countless times, said no...its not ready... gave up and said fucking feature it then lol

See i think that is right to do Dan.

Saying no it is not ready yet is a good thing in my eyes

And giving up and saying feature it and leave me alone is....

I just didnt want it featured cos i had only just brought it off Kam so it would be like getting someone else car featured,i then had the idea of having Kam come along aswel and they loved the idea!

I did explain the situation and they loved it and said let them know when its complete... which i wont lol, not begging a feature  . A feature.. cover is a award for all your troubles and effort youve put into making your car what it is, and only when its 100% complete cos you wont be getting another chance in a hurry imo... the only thing people should be aiming for when they build their own cars is that their 100% happy with it, stuff everyone else! I will never understand people who build outragous cars because they just have to go cover car, its mad.

As already, i do 100% agree, build a car for yourself, not for anyone else, anything that follows is a bonus right up your scene hole!

I was asked to do a photoshoot for PVW when they wanted a standard G40 for a feature on the cars. Glad I didn't do it as they did their usual "it's shit 'cos it's not a Golf" routine in the article. I did find a pic of my car at a show in VW Motoring once; nice suprise when you're not expecting it. It's also been front cover on VW Audi Car and What Car? when it was new.
