Improving radio signal

I have a 98 ibiza and blaupunkt mp35 headunit. Problem is that i cannot get radio clear radio reception - i have a beesting ariel. Is there anything i have to buy?

I know halfords do an adaptor bits £20 and where does the 12v wire fit into? is there a cheaper version?

is it an aftermarket stereo or factory fitted? If aftermarket then you probably need to fit an aerial amplifier. The standard headunit (at least in mk4 polos this is the case) has a built in amplifier. The amplifier is probably the adaptor you are talking about, it looks like a metal tube with one end connecting to the head unit and t'other connecting to the aerial wire. Then there is a small wire coming off it which should be connected to the remote wire for the head unit (usually blue).

ye, thats right, do i bridge the 12v with the blue wire going into the headunit - it wont affect power to the unit will it?
