8months MOT 2 months tax, around 82k miles. few receipts etc. good reliable car

how much is it worth coz my mates on about scrapping this, might buy it off him and stick it on ebay and see if i can sell it for enough for some weller steels for the polo lol

in that case anybody want to buy a runaround for £400

On Bangernomics principles:

He was going to scrap it, so therefore it's worth £50 or so.

Now add £30 for each month left to run on the MoT.

Now add the value of any road tax left on it.

So, call it £300 so far.

Now deduct, pound for pound, the cost of any repairs that you know will be needed to bring the car into a fit state for you to use as daily transport. So if the front tyres are bald, deduct what it will cost you to buy 2 new tyres (or part worn tyres or remoulds, if that is your preference).

not worth it, buy it for scrap strip it and wighe it in. weigh the alloy bits in separate you'll get a few quid for the head

the price of scrap has dropped so dont expect much

i have seen tooooo many of these puntos 45,55s head gaskets, core plugs and that rusty bit of pipe connected to the thermostat go on these so i wouldt call them reliable. if it was a 16v then i'd say go for it i even know the head gasket procedure off by heart

I'd say £300's fine but price it a bit higher cos you never know.

I had punto 55x on a 94 plate. MOT & Tax'd with a mint body. Only problem was the strangled 1.1L had 148k's on the clock (which I only did 4 of). Somehow I still managed to get £350 private 2 years ago. I know what your thinking (two years ago) but even then it was only worth £50 lol

Depends on your local area. Round here, I'd park it up on a busy road with £400, how much tax and test and my mobile number in the window, and probably have £300 tommorrow.

Days before Christmas isn't ideal for selling cars either tbh.

I had a '97 mk1 55SX a couple of years ago. Horrible little car, no guts, hilarious body roll... but it had character and I was fond of it. It was the office's car of choice to go to the pub in at lunchtimes cos of the ridiculous handling. It was great fun to rag the nuts off that revvy little 1.1, though I had to to get anywhere at a decent speed. Had some problems with the rad fan which led to overheating and head gasket failure. Also had the clutch go quite soon after I got it.

When I wrote it off (mostly cosmetic damage but wasn't worth repairing) the insurance company said they'd give me a £1100 for it, or £700 if I wanted to fix it up and keep it. Mileage at the time was about 50k so quite low for its age. I took the money, drove it with crumpled bonnet and wonky headlights for a few months while I saved up for the next car and traded it in for £400 off a 2004 Mazda 6. The dealer took it to auction and I haven't seen it since. P115 XEU... RIP for all I know.

Considering the mileage on your mate's Punto, and the shoddy condition plus lack of service history it's going to be quite a bit less. £400 doesn't sound too bad. Could you clean it up at all?
