Idiots in cars!!

Featured Replies

2 things in the space of 10 minutes.. ridiculous.

Come out of my street (cul-de-sac), turn right half way along a half mile long main road, to go to the Co-op / chippy.

The car park is like a big sloping horseshoe shape that goes behind the buildings with 2 entrance / exits.

I come on first time, luckily grab a pitch right at the top, go to get some milk. come back, and I'm waiting to reverse out onto the hella-slope, this bloke in a people carrier stops right behind me, but i cant get out, I'm still in my pitch, waving him through in an OTT fashion that only a blind person would miss, even flash my hazards, but he wont move.

So i reverse out, stupid hill start which is still hard for me, first point of turn I'm going to swipe the back of this Renault, so i move forwards to increase the reverse angle, but he's edged forward, so now I'm stuck diagonally across the pitch, on a hill! Finally squeeze out after about 2 minutes of clutch and handbrake hell, and he drives past me shaking his head and shouting all sorts at me!!

Get home, drop the milk off. Mom wants chippy. Back out, park at the quieter entrance with less pitches. putting chips onto the passenger seat and the cops drive past, like 15mph, both starring me out like I've just killed someone!

Obviously pissed off, driving back down the main road, flash a car to turn into a side street just before my turning, and some wank stain in a 4x4 (stereotypically) overtakes both of us at a stupid speed, must have been 60-odd, this is a narrow-ish 30 road with 2 speed bumps at each third.

I was meant to be cruising tonight but i cant be bothered now, I'm in a bad mood and I'm taking this as a bad omen, dont want to get myself in trouble. Just hope these ass holes get whats coming to them on their way home.

You should have got out and asked him to move his car when he ignored you waving at him. If he didn't move, just say you've only just passed and likely to hit him if he stays where he was.

What a idiot though

He was waiting to get out! So i was being polite and letting him go cause i was gonna take longer, but he was being a prick and expecting me to do some Italian Job style manoevere to get out...

Dont ever be polite to other nobheads on the road. You'll never get thanked for it so theres no point. Just do your own thing, if it means they gota wait, so be it! :-)

If some one cut me up or pissed me off some how wean am driveing then I just give them the nation's salute (ie the middle finger)

nah, let knobheads be knobheads. I'd of waited till he got right up behind me, waiting for me to move and then switched the engine off and played with my phone!

I had to squeeze out my parking space at work coz someone parked real sensible and then get a postie trying to deliver me a letter by parking in my boot!

Just one of those days!

Just one of those days!

Please do explane that one to us

yesterday some idiot in a focus tryed to force their way out onto a busy road into the aston martin in front of me

of all the cars you could try push in they chose that one

idiots!

Someone nearly hit me today at a carpark. I was coming out of a bay and someone came out of this turning next to me the wrong way. It's left hand turn only, yet she went right - but even if it was both ways, she still stayed ages on the wrong side after turning. She gave me a right funny look as if I'd just done something wrong!

I was doing a bit of xmas shopping in Lincoln yesterday, so I parked on the top of St Marks in the transit, thinking nothing of it (7' 2" height restriction, my van's somewhere between 6' 5" and 6' 10").

I got back in and driving down the ramp (same gate for in and out) and some bloke runs out in front of me and puts his hand out for me to stop. I wound the window down and yelled "What's up mate?"

To explain his issue, he just stood there in the middle of the entrance pointing up at the height restriction.

If it doesn't fit under the gate - how the hell did he think I got it in there?

^LOL!

A few months back during the summer I was going straight across at a roundabout when a woman in a golf pulled out in front of me and turned down the same road I was heading in. This road is a few hundred yards long before ending at a T-junction with traffic lights. As it was 5 o'clock there was a queue of traffic at the lights but rather than driving up the the end of the queue and stopping the golf slowed down to less than 10mph about 200 yards from the end of the queue (it was so slow that I was slipping the clutch in 1st, I can only think she had an automatic). Rather than wear out my clutch I overtook the golf (without having to go any faster than 30mph) and drove up to the end of the queue, when I looked in my mirror the golf was still way back down the road crawling along.

So we're finally through the traffic lights and the golf is behind me tailgating all the way until I turned off the main road.

Really what was the point.

I do that to some extent, partly comes from driving larger heavier stuff that doesn't get going again as easy as a car will. Basically, you aim to get to the back of the queue just as the last car starts moving. It's good practice, but done wrong, it can take the piss.

Well the length of the queue would have meant the lights would have to change about 3 times before getting through.

IMO that just causes worse tailbacks in busy traffic, especially when queueing for a roundabout. Just pack up to the queue straight away and wait. I get somewhat annoyed by people who do this crawling business as it means you end up having to trundle along at the razor's edge of 1st gear.

If I see a queue not far in front, I never pick up that much speed. Go into second and just truddle along. Theres no point in getting there as fast as you can.

Agree with the above, much safer to drive slowly into a queue. There's no rush. And if you get the timing right not only is it a better drive but saves you some pennies on the petrol.

The above is totally fine, if you don't have a queue behind yourself - that's what I'm saying about it.

Maybe so, but you'd be spending longer waiting for me to get a 70hp transit with a transporter trailer and car on the back going than you would if you were sat behind me creeeping.

I've no problem with rolling up to the end of the queue in second gear but when you're forced to either free wheel (not really possible up hill) or slip the clutch in first gear its a bit of a joke.

Sometimes it's appropriate, sometimes it aint, but it's easy to tell when there's just no need for it other than the car in front being driven by a slacker.

First year of driving is always horrible when you realise that there are so many idiots on the road. I've been driving for 4 years and I'm still shocked every time I drive somewhere. You just have to remember to keep calm, and don't let anyone on the road annoy, or alternatively do things like slow down to 5mph when someone is tailgating! What happened does sound really annoying though!

I remember when I passed my driving test. Was driving for two weeks before a random driver stopped beside me (after I had pulled in to let him pass) and started shouting at me,

Random driver: "HOW OLD ARE YOU?"

Me: "17"

Random Driver: "BOL***KS, YOU'RE TOO YOUNG TO DRIVE, I'M GONNA F***ING REPORT YOU TO THE POLICE. HOW OLD ARE YOU?"

Me: "I told you, I'm 17, would you like to take down my name, and I'll read out the registration plate for you if you want?"

Random Driver: "F*** OFF!" and he drove off.

Never did hear anything from the police.

From then on I realised how many idiots there are on the road. Admittedly though I do get annoyed easily. Over the last week I have flashed my fog lights at every driver with theirs on when there is no sign of fog whatsoever.

lol, lucky bugger, i dont have fogs to flash, on another note, living in the country on a fairly busy single track lane with passing places, i have seen some right spaners driving, for instance the other day i was driving the john deere up the road and some complete plank flies up round a blind bend at about 50 and slides, only stopping about 1 meter in front of me then proceeds to reverse straight into the hedge, not turning makinng the car follow the bend in the road at this point my face changed from  to  i then proceeded to find out when i got back to the farm that the people in the trailer i was towing enjoyed a nice act of compression as they all slid forwards along the benched seats haha

I think there's a difference between keeping it rolling at a reasonable pace and taking the piss crawling along at 5mph. I was taught by my driving instructor that the best way to tackle a roundabout is to keep the car moving if possible and look for a gap before you arrive at the white line. I think a certain amount of common sense needs to be used by drivers, and unfortunately is sadly lacking. This is evident in the number of numptys I still see on the road using hand held mobiles while they're driving. Grrr.
