Recently I've broken up with my GF, every single time I look at the car I think of her, this isn't good. Mostly I've been leaving it at my mothers since I got back a week ago. I've decided I can't do it, the car has to go.

So the advert begins.

It's a Y reg lupo 1.4S converted to a GTI by myself. All the parts from the GTI were used, wiring, engine, axles, exhaust, wheels, interior, I literally mean everything, listing it all would be silly and take forever (lol) The only thing I didn't put on was the front lights as they died with the car. Also, since it was a front end impact, I have changed the radiator, it's now running an mk3 VR6 one which I bought new from ECP.

Since I'm lazy I didn't inform the DVLA of this change therefore insurance wise & tax wise it's still classed as a 1.4S. . . .

the Doner car was a 02 plate six speed GTI which I got from Chrislupogti. I didn't get the service history as he wanted to keep it however I'm going to chase up a photocopy of it. There's a whole folder of reciepts for various parts. It ran a 15.8 second quarter mile at inters and it was rolling roaded at 139 BHP. I know Chris worked for a company which did remaps and he was offering them out when he was a member on here. This car has must have been mapped because it has been said to be silly fast even in comparison to GTI's. Matt A recently had a go and commented.

It's on 48k, I'm unsure on the belt history so I've got the belts and the tensioners and waterpump here which I'll be fitting when I find time before the end of Jan.

It's six speed, the gear change is flawless and I've never had a problem with it.

being honest the front right track rod end is on it's way out so I'm replacing both along with the ball joints.

It's lowered on a set of koni shocks and springs. They came from the doner GTI so they are the right spec.

Naturally, it's on Bathursts which will be recieving paint in a colour I have yet to decide on. (influence?)

The car itself is also due in for some modifications. little micky from here owes me a respray for the old 1.4 engine and I've bought the paint so it's going to be done. Cat out of the bag here though, mk2 Fire and Ice deep purple. The stubbies will be painted, the black badges are proper VW ones & I've got german plates which I will be fitting.

I'll put some pics of how the car is now and put a few comments under the ones which I feel need some kind of explanation.

Leather steering wheel and GTI pedals are now fitted, as is the lower cover thing.

The full engine cover is in place, as is the exhaust heatshield.

A sport rear bumper has been acquired and will be fitted when the car is painted.

I'm unsure on a price to ask for this being entirely honest. I know what 02 GTI's go for with 48k on the clock, however this isn't an 02 GTI.

It's a really awkward thing to price. I'm half tempted to finish it and slap it on the bay however despite how I feel looking at it, I really want it to go to someone who's going to show it the love which I have. I'm getting it painted and finishing it before I sell it as I want her to go complete. The love's there but so is the pain. (poetic?)

as for the colour, oddly enough I'll show it using an mk3.

anybody who has seen a paint job by micky will understand that with this colour, this will really be something special.

essentially it's going to be a lupo GTI in a non GTI shell with a fresh (fantastic) paint job in a rare choice colour with twelve months mot and six months tax.

it'll be new in the scene and fairly cool.

also usefull for those who don't want GTI insurance (I hate adding this part)

FIRE AND ICE enough said! GOOD LUCK

What about when its time to MOT it? :?

what an odd post?

Fact your selling a car because it "reminds you of your ex bird"

Get a grip man!!!!!

but anyway, then the car itself...

You say how you put all the effort into the conversion, but "too lazy" to write down some numbers on the v5...

Hmm bet your insurance thinks same too lol

And what colour is the car? red I'm guessing but the random golf pics at end are odd?

Why paint a car that your gunna sell? if thats what you ment? and if your painting it, why not just get a cheap private plate and then it is no longer your memory whoreding car!

If it is resprayed, id say, a mongrel lupo, with no history, and red been resprayed that blue golf colour

i wouldnt price it very high in my eyes, you would have to sell to a enthusiast

hmm

looks better in red imo, especially with those black rims.

seconded...

hmm random post you cleary care about it though as yove spent some time on it so get it resprayed change the rims and I'm sure the car will be loking difffernt enough for you to keep it :D

i respect your passion for the car.

but, get it together man!

cant imagine ever feeling the urge to sell my car if i split with my gf. no matter how long id been with her.

makes me think youre using the feel sorry story to sell something which is not great or a mismatch car!

sorry if I'm wrong, just IMO

Toooooo be fair..if I broke up with my gf..I'd keep my car as it's all I'd have : :crybaby::lol:

Well maybe not but I'd definetly keep it..Think of all the extra time (and money) you can spend on your motor now..the one and only ride you need..:lol:

Leave it red, fuck knows when Mick will be able to paint it.

Leave it red especially if selling up. As paint is pointless. Leave that up to the next owner.

As for the car i love it. I prefer the shape of the non GTi lupos and i always have. My GF has had both. The GTi looks better as standard. Modified i think that the non GTi lupos look so much better.

Put it up for what you would like for it and then see what response you get from potential buyers then lower your price if necessary. I think that is your best bet.

Good work though.

Oh and don't sell the car. You'll get over the woman quicker than the sale of the car :-) Chin up there are loads of women out there plus they won't want a guy who has to catch the bus :-D

Don't sell it. Paint it that purple colour, then slam some RMs on it with a polished dish and it'll look completely different from how it looks now. And it'll also look totally sick.

I think he has RM's or wants RM's.

has.

I would never get a car resprayed just to sell it, that's Irish.

If your putting the effort in keep it and enjoy it. Make some new memories with it.

thats irish

i dont get it

Irish = stupid

Maybe not you, but it's a generally accepted saying up here

How have I never seen this car around?

because I've been in Bristol for the past six months with it.

I'm now back in the north east, most days I park free at the bailey and then the cathedral on an evening.

it would get a respray because the 1.4 engine conversion went in a one litre which belongs to a mate who's a painter by trade. I did an exchange basically.

tbh, I feel like a change now. I don't want to look at it and I'm losing car enthusiasm.

I've put a deposit down on an mk1 GTI. kind of a trip back to find out where it all started.

Rich

Nice car but ideally you should sell your ex and keep the car!!

I could always shoot her.

six months, me, bristol, this car and her.

nah, I'm done.

It's happened us all mate, takes time but you'll get over it. Just go out get ridiculously drunk (its christmas) and try it on with everything that walks!! lol thats my plan, and on that note... I'm off to start the beer!!

Good luck sellin it!!

cheers mate.

have a good night.

Mate i would keep the car, i dont like lupos but this one looks tidy

Good luck selling it anyway

Don't sell it dude, seriously.

If you sell it, shes won. Don't let her win. Man points at stake!!
