mk3 morette headlamp conversion

Featured Replies

went down the scrappy today and picked up a set of morette headlamps for £20! the extra driving lights are damaged, so need some new ones, but they are in reasonably good condition, considering how poor the build quality of them is!! anyone know where to get replacement lamps from for these? has anyone got any general info on them too?

Did you get the morette grille too? I would expect the lamps to be Hella or likes and have a part number on them. Then its just a case of getting in touch with a Hella stockist.

nah the car just had an original polo grill cut to fit, i dont like the morette grill much anyway!

Yeah the Morette stuff can be a bit marmite, but they don't look too bad if fully colour coded.

I ain't a fan of them tbh.

Are the smoked indicators proper smoked ones or home brew ones? Cause if there proper I might be interested in purchasing them from you.

ah dude these look disgusting.

I've got a set in the garage. not even sure why, just bought them to kinda be nerdy and just have.

how flimsy is that headlight surround!

no idea how ud mod an original grill around those bu be interesting to see what uve got instore.

yep, did you know who owned the car? it looked fairly tidy, the smoothed wings and tailgate looked to have been done well. went back there today and had the grille off it too, not sure if its a morette grill or std one chopped down, as the cuts look very even and well done. i can only imagine the car ended up in the scrappy due to engine failure or the floor was rotted out as there didnt even seem to be any parking dents down the swage lines

i dont think any of my polos (bar my painfully bland mk4)have been what you would call conventional styling wise! :ninja:

Definitely go for it man.

Although the standard square headlights really suit MkIII's, those Morrette items quite suit them as well, and considering that you don't really see any MkIII's with them on, they ought to really set the car off

... if applied properly.

THere is just no accounting for taste some times...throw them in the bin...

Give it a try, see if you like it, if not, stick them on ebay and you'll probably break even.

well the lights are on, dont think they look too bad, they are definately growing on me!

no doubt they will cause a bit of a reaction god or bad, not that i really care, cos its my banger and i'll do as i please

I think they would look sweet on a euro'd car .

Fully C/C bumpers

little dished wheels with chunky tyres these actually ...

Minilights.jpg

Drop it on its arse too especially at the front .. maybee a eyebrow spoiler thing ..

I like them there diffrent and i think they look cool .. could make your car ..

Colour code the light surround and the grill and you'll probably carry it off.

wasnt sure if that would be too much colour, might try it when the weather improves

total marmite moment

not to my taste but it beats the hell outta the norm we see on here

looks really well done

but i very much dislike it

as much as i would like those wheels, and i would! i cant really justify spending on it, when its just my daily runner. gonna drop it a little on g40 springs that I've got kicking around in my shed (cant go to low as my parents live on a farm and my g40 cant get up there due to lowness!)and I've got some clio rsi speedlines to go on to add a bit of dish! i was messing around with an eyebrow spoiler yesterday, but it looked a bit fussy

Haven't seen a set of these on a car for ages. Last time I did was in the late '90's on a dark coloured G40 at a rolling road day. Plate was J21 DYO iirc?
