wtf is wrong with the police! aaaaargh they're meana be protecting the community not fucking hassling us!

last month, my wallet was stolen, so i'd lost my photocard licence

last night, i got a producer, standard licence, MOT and insurance certficate...i asked the officer what to do about my missing photocard an he goes just take your passport as photographic identification, i said cool

went today to produce

REPORTED FOR FAILING TO PRODUCE A VALID D/LICENCE! i'm being sent a court summons about it i told them i've applied for a new photocard, an the bitch goes to me i should have reported the missing licence as soon as it happened to get a crime reference number for what reason exactly...i dont want to waste 4 hours waiting at the police station when they arent exactly gona do anything about it and just give me a stupid number...on top of this she told me i have to pay for court fee's!!! i dont even know what i'm being charged for! just producing a non valid licence!

it doesnt make sense!!! why waste so much of an innocent persons time for no reason!

When this happened to me.. (10 years ago) They just said that they could just just phone up the DVLA and check. That was 10 years ago but now they have a direct link to the DVLA so you really shouldn't have to show it at all as its all on the computer!

I'd be supprised if you have to pay costs for something like that, it might be worth you waiting till you get the summons then give the court a ring and explain the problem. The court can contact the DVLA and get a print out faxed through to them showing that you have a currecnt and valid licence, untill then just do the best you can to get a replacement licence. The only thing I would say is that if you do end up going to court over it take all your documents, MOT and Insurance and paper licence (if you have one) and just explained what happened.

yeah does sound a bit odd, last time I got pulled my details were checked over the radio, but if they want a driving liscence, I havn't got one with photo ID on it, because when I got my liscence they didnt exist. and if they wanted to see my passport for ID purposes, I'd be interested to see what what they'd do as I havnt got a passport, in fact I havnt got any photo ID.

Someone puts in a silly complaint about a persons driving though and they do something then! bloody robbing bastards! They say they don't make much of a profit from traffic fines and the like but they must do, since they seem to prefer pulling people over and giving them £30 fines rather than catching criminals*.

*robbers, rapists, drug dealers etc

just get another licence b4 you are court date and take it in with u. proper waste of time.

gugz, on the PNC (police national computer), they can check if youve got an MOT, insurance, and driving licence! so why you got a producer i don't know! don't worry bout a thing, as you didn't have any photo ID on you, thats why you got a producer. To take you to court, the CPS (crown prosecution service) should tell the officer, why are you taking this man to court, as you have everything!

I got a "caution" for failing to produce a full driving license. I tried to explain that the DVLA hadn't sent it/ I hadn't recieved it in the post yet, as I had only passed my test a few days before..but they seemed to think it was my fault...like I obviously control when the DVLA sends out driving licenses..

Waste of time sometimes.

i got pulled over TWICE in the same day, in the same area, because my wheels "look illegal" !!!

Everytime he said something i had an answer for him (legalities..etc) and both times said they're gonna take my word for it as I obviously know more than them and let me on my way, second time he said "Hello Chris" as he obviously ran the plate and saw my info :grin: :lol:

PNC can be out of date or simply incorrect. HORT/1 forms are issued sometimes to verify details passed on PNC. It is an offence to fail to produce documents upon request to a police officer on the road. However, because most people nowadays do not routinely carry documents around with them the offence is vitiated if you produce them at a police station of your choosing within 7 days. I'm suprised that you were told photo ID would pass as a driving licence. If the officer ticks the box requesting the station clerk to check your driving licence then they will only accept a driving licence! He must be new.

As opposed to getting a solicitor I'd save the hassle and do the most obvious thing - report the old licence missing and get hold of a replacement asap. Take that to court and I would be suprised if you got anything more than words of advice in the circumstances, certainly if you have no previous convictions.

I got interviewd about my crash yesterday, as its my fault for crossing the stop lines at a T-Junction I may be going to court for driving with undue care n attention!

6Points and a ban as I already have 9points!!

The office said he will do his best for me to go on a course so I don't get points or anything!

Not as if I'm gonna be able to go court anyway!
