Well its technically called the IROC (taken from scIROCco ;)

But its just VW`s new sports coupe, last one being the corrado

Lush!!! i really like these

Ste

Just a concept though isn't it? You reckon they are likely to actually go ahead and do it?

The real thing never ends up anything like the concept anyway :(

That pic is of the concept, on my last course at VW HQ in Milton Keynes we got a sneak peak, Its basically a hardtop Eos with the new TSI 1.4 engine option, only turbocharged (not turbo and supercharged) as VW have discontinued that setup

If it drives anything like an Eos, it should be great with a solid roof.

Its been a concept for ages. Wonder if they'll ever actually make it or if its just destined to be a Volkswagen forum repost all its life

If you don't mind me asking, do you know why the TSI 1.4 has been discontinued?

i think its lovley!

this has been about ages, had a massive stand for it at the geneva motorshow in march.

The course I was on was on the new turbo technology replacing the existing TSI engines, They will still have the TSI badge, just no supercharger.

Coz its too complex and costs to much to manufacture apparently.

Erm...according to another post on the Wikipedia site it is going to be revived in 2008 producing 100,000 of them a year !

3rd Generation Scirocco

Could it possibly use a twin stage turbo such as the one made by KKK/Borg Warner thats used on some BMWs?

yeh, nothing 2008 about it at all, i doubt anything like it will be released within the next 3yrs tbh, and, lets be honest theres more chance it will be the next golf before its the next scirocco. if you read the statement properly, it says VW will give a statement to the sciroccos future in 2008, not build 100,000 of them in 2008

The statement is about bringing it to North America yes.

And if you read it properly at the top it says 'VW Officially announced production of a new Scirocco model'

loving the colour,I'm obsessed with anything acid green :) (what a female thing to say(colour first car second)like the car too haha

It won't be the same when it eventually comes out. That's the whole point of a concept car, get you talking about it and then let you down with the final design (Cough, Jaguar)

I was in the VW garage in Stratford yesterday and they have it advertised as being released in 2008. I hope they do :)

^^same in listers in 'sham

i;m not saying there won't be a scirrocco released next year, but i wouldn't expect it to look anything like the iroc potentially

Not gonna happen, let's face it. Far too crazy for the general public.

Shouldn't look anything like the concept version, perhaps a downgraded version of the concept which I think it mentioned somewhere. Can't find it and I'm far too lazy to look.

  • 3 weeks later...

the demo has been snapped on the Nurburgring in Germany.....

looks nothing like the concept....

yea the XJ220 lost half it's drive shaft and cylinders when it went into production but the design stayed similar, but VW are renowned for turning out productioncars similar to concept form arn't they? e.g Audi TT, Concept 1 and 2 (new gen Beetle) audi le mans (R8 ) !!! just expect a watered down eos with smaller rims:D
