Sealey stuff is good. I've always found DeWalt to be a bit variable with quality.

Makita FTW, I swear by them. Do they do a li-ion one, would be handy cos I got a few 18v li-ion drills etc. and the bare unit (no batteries) shouldn't be too much...

I bought an 18v Dewalt a while ago - 418Nm! its awesome, any bolt just comes out - gotta make sure bolts are threading right before torqing up though , or you'll fuck wheel hubs etc lol (oops)

i bought a £20 one from argos, not great and will probs break soon but has worked fine so far an ill take it bak if it breaks quickly.

There's an old arguement.

Personally, I favour 1/2" drive stuff for most jobs. I'm not saying 3/8" is inadequate by any means, I know lots of mechanics who use 3/8" almost exclusively (apart from things like hubnuts), but I'm always nervous about giving 3/8" socketry some s**t where required.

I find that anything above 1/2" drive can be too big to get in a lot of places on cars (someone who works on bikes would probably say the same about 1/2"), can be too heavy to work with comfortably, and costs too much to get stuff for. Likewise, sockets below about 17mm can be tricky to find.

I'd say for most things you'll use an impact wrench for 1/2 inch would be your best bet.
