Petty police

Featured Replies

Now I respect police and everything but this kinda annoyed me.

Yesterday driving home form Nottingham I was pulled over by the police on the busy christmas motorway for yup a dirty number plate.

Now I had driven like 150+ miles on the wet salty motorways so it was hardly my fault that it was smothered in dirt. At least all she did was made me clean it, but it grinds my gears that she pulled me over on a busy motorway just for that.

rant over

p.s. she was driving a brand new M5 which was rather nice lol

Having a dirty number plate is something that they view with suspicion. It's attracting small attention that leads to other things. By highway code you are instructed to have the number plate visible at all times, and therefore should have cleaned it at your previous service stop.

i think she was just rubbing it in that she had a nice clean M5 lol

Mines dirty but still reflective... After 300 miles! I just cant see the point of going and cleaning my car up for me to hop on the a14 later and it get all dirty again?

Now I respect police and everything

Why? Do you respect them more than your window cleaner?

I had a dirty number plate because I had driven miles on the shitty roads, I didn't pull over cos I needed to get home quickly. I know I should have, but did she really have to pull me over on the busy motorway. Mine wasn't the only one like that, we carried on after and I saw about another 3 dirty numberplates in the space of a few miles.

Hers wasn't exactly spotless.....

How dirty though? Could you acctually see it? A lot of people up here you can't see their plates at all, but that's from driving a lot of miles I'd think. I hardly ever clean the focus and the plates are still read-able. I gave them a wipe down yesterday to keep on top of it. I'd expect after 150 miles to have a light smattering of dirt...nothing worthy of pulling you over for.

Bit of an annoyance but if you can't read them they are illegal. Pulling over on the motorway is never safe, worse in winter. Best just to give them a wipe every now and then.

Looking out of my work window, i have black number plates with nothing else!!

I'm gonna clean them!!

seen loads over the last few days, cars litrially turned black with shit road conditions

and i did notice a police van with dirty reg plates

Cars with literally black number plates do my head in. Power wash your car for gods sake!

Its usually the business men who do loads of motorway miles and 'dont have time' to clean their cars. My step dad for one, but

he could nip down to the jet wash on night, it'd take all of 15 minutes.

It is annoying when they just stop you though, like there are loads of people...and they pick you. Dam!

Theres loads of cars around now whos bottom half is just black. They can't have cleaned them in yonks!

welldone for the police doing their job, they asked u to clean it an u did whats the problem, they could of givin u a ticket for it if they wanted. An of course its you are fault its dirty u should have stoppped an cleaned it.

Now ud be complaining if someone with unreadable dirty plate hit u and drove off and noone got the reg wouldnt u.

pointless rant tbh.

My numberplates are clean :D but so is the rest of the car. I just spent 2 hours cleaning it (for the 3rd time in 8 days - but I have done shitload of miles this last week) and then waxing it with some nice Autoglym :D. OCD? Me? Nah......

Cleaned my car twice in the space of a week and it dirty again!

With the roads up here just driving down the street dirties your car.

To get the car black would only take a week or 2 just now.

Dont see how people dont feel ashamed to drive dirty cars though, its like would you go out without having a shower?

But back on topic I've seen loads of folk, mostly buisness men in their 3 series, with number plates which are unreadable. They probably wont ever get pulled for it, yet if i left my car to get that bad I can garantee I'd get pulled. Thats what annoys me about the police if your over 40 and have an expensive car your unlikely to get pulled.

Yet if your in your 20s with an old car, probably all you can afford, you will get pulled for something stupid.

i actually dont know what your problem is with the coppers either

they asked you to clean your plate so you did, even if you aint gonna wash your car in this weather the least you can do is wipe the number plates clean...

and what th ehell does petite police mean ahahhahaha HAHAHAHAHAHA dont you mean petty, and the only thing petty is your ranting

Dont see how people dont feel ashamed to drive dirty cars though, its like would you go out without having a shower?

yes yes i would

Girls must be all over you then

you didnt specify which night and a hard days graft... I'm a student bum, i dont know the meaning of graftin :D

anyway to get in with pissed student girls all you need is more booze when the offys are shut so what you look like is the last of thier worries mwahahhaha

edit: also nothing wrong with no washing your car over winter, i spent 3 hours washing and waxing the car the other day, froze my bollocks off, only to the drive teh car probably about 15 minutes down the road to a friend and it was covered in shite again...

a good wash every coupla weeks is a good enough, just make sure every other day your lights, plates and windows are clean... job done (lights and windows being the most important, its amazing how many people have black lights

The fact that about I dunno 5-10 miles before this there had been a crash and there wasn't a copper insight or any evidence that one had been there made me think surely they should be taking care of that instead.

Admittedly my numberplate was dirty but was readable.

and grungeisdead I had washed my car before I left and it was spotless it its got covered in shit from the motorways. And yes I meant petty, dyslexic what can I say....

no worries :)

I know what you mean I don't mind them doing random checks and all just I think they probably would have had better things to do than pull me over on a dangerous motorway. She was cool about it though
