If it's clean, it may be considered a little better and people may pay more care to avoid having someone very enthusiastic gutting them in the aftermath of a careless swipe.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't keep my car clean through any misguided ideas of impressing other people. As modest mouse says, if I wanted to impress people, I wouldn't drive a VW, particularly a polo, for Gods sake.
