Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me? when i've taken off my oil cap theres sum yukky stuff (like mayonnaise) on the cap, and inside the engine, i have noticied it for a while but the car has never had any problems!

Is it anything to worry about?

Just condensation in the oil. Nothing to worry about. If it goes away after a good long drive then you should be fine.

If the oil on the end of the dipstick is the usual black/brown then you'll be fine.

One of two things

- Condensation in the engine - happens if you do lots of short trips.

- Head gasket failure.

It's most likely the former, but still worth chacking out. Is the coolant filmy? To be sure, it's probably worth having a compression check done. You can get a compression tester for £10-20, and do it yourself with an assistant, or a garage should only take 10 minutes to do it.

Theres a tiny bit of this yukky stuff on the end of the dipstick, but i've never had a problem with the car, starts 1st time etc.

I will think about booking it in at a garage for a compression test..

Filmy coolant might just be lime scale from the radiator.

Give the car a good long run and it should disappear. If it doesn't than do as Yeti said.

Has your coolant levels gone down? Its another way of checking to see if you've got a head gasket failure.

Coolant seems ok.. tbh i dont think the coolant as ever been changed. But i know people who could check it all 4 me :-)
