Looking good. If you have remote central locking i think you should get some rear door handles for the front doors so they are de-locked. Apart from that the polo is look shweeet

@ tomadomeit - Cheers.. I actually had a rear handle on the passanger side but i changed back cos it was very faded and looked worse then the original.. My local scrappy has no rear handles in good shape... Thanks tho...

My feature in Slick Mag is out....

It came out this morning, after a long wait. I'm happy enough with it for the short amount of notice I had. Hes made quite a few mistakes in the text both in relation to what I said and certain modifications but sure it was never gonna be 100%...You can judge for yourself anyway, I'm happy enough for a first attempt and it might just make it easier to sell come the summer....

This little beauty is a credit to all things stylish and a message to all those wanting to customise their ride but don’t really have too much to spend. Cliff is in College so we all know they aren’t flush with cash, but has managed to create a unique motor using OEM styling. I won’t pretend that I am completely up to scratch with the way its all handled by VAG owner but I can tell you that they have vision with what the Manufacturers originally intended. Although being a completely unique scene in Ireland the OEM style is practiced worldwide and have been cover on some of the best car magazines out there. I wont pretend I know a lot about this particular style of practice, but I can tell you that it is amazing what you can create with manufactured parts from the same bread of vehicle. The first thing that gets your attention as you see this VW roll up is how smooth and crisp the whole car looks and if I honest I would have thought that the whole setup was aftermarket. But I was wrong and to make it worse I was out by a mile. The VW polo is not the beefiest car there is too modify and so using a title to explain the car like Black Beast or European Devil would have been completely wrong. Under the hood it comforts a little 1.0 8v which on a car of this size is just fine but going to extremes on kitting and a sound system would have just killed it. The exterior host body parts from the sportier models such as the front and rear bumper coming off the 16v and with minor touches such as removing the Toeing eye and smoothing them out and fitting a OEM splitter to bring the front closer to mother nature it really does make it look so smooth. The bonnet and headlights are not OEM however as these were not manufactured by the companies such as VW, Audi and Porsche but are aftermarket fitments which give it an aggressive look while still keeping the smooth shape to the car. The headlights and indicators all round are crystal looking and crystal being known for its purity and being so clean and fresh helps keep interest in the mixture between both worlds of factory and not.

When you see such a car its naturally assumed that it would have cost a lot of money but being quite skilled himself Cliff has spent many of hours in his Garage building and creating a car that would not only grab the attention of others but change the opinions of many that think bigger is better, where as in this case less is more. Around to the side of the car and it looks pretty standard. Well except off course when you check out what this car is rolling on and how low it seems to be rolling. The standard polo can make you feel sea sick as you travel the country roads and being Euro styled and the love for living low and wide a whopping set of 14” Rims from Germany which you may think what so special about that? Well its more the width that makes it so special. With a size of 8” on the back and 7” on the front the 195 tires are stretched across the rims so that they tuck nicely under the arches. The car sits about 80mm lower than factory normally but we were graced when Cliff spent time out and dropped the Vmaxx Coilover’s another 40mm than his standard to 120mm from factory. The overall stance on this car is gorgeous, with it sitting mm’s literally from the ground and the wheels peeking out from under the arches, it’s like a match made in VAG heaven. As we sneak around to the back of the car and the style has been carried throughout the car to a very high standard. The boot has been completely smoothed out with the removal of the handle and wiper arm and some sweet German style plates fitted to brag of the German rights on creating VW and all it stands for. It is normally the simplest things that make the big difference’s and that can be seen from the rear lights along. A tin of red tint spray and factory lights and you come up with a great combination as can be seen on this Polo.

When you get into the polo you are greeted with both style and comfort which something the polo lacked. Cliff came across these seats which was not only leather but also heated. From information given it has been said that only 2 Polo’s in the whole of Ireland are able to brag of such rights and bragging is definitely something that should be done when you open the door and see these beauties waiting to heat that ass as you take a road trip. Sounding the seats and the whole interior is the usual bland plastics that they either use for the handle or center console or the other major number of parts that make it a complete interior. 33 pieces to date have been taken out, sanded down, plastic primered and painted in the gloss black and fitted back into the car and it makes a huge difference. Nothing about this car seems like the factory polo, yet its all VW but has just been re-mastered by a man in love with his car. You would be forgiven to think this man loved the Audi TT more with the seats being out of one of those car and also his pedals coming from the TT but as I was told its all about OEM. I’m hoping to find out a lot more over the time about this undiscovered fashion in Ireland so hopefully we may be able to show you the readers something a bit different every now and again. Moving onto the Gauges both in the Dash and the passenger side and both of these have been custom built for this car. The indiglo were manufactured for around 10 cars in total which the three dials you see placed in the passenger side are fitted where the air bag used to sit. The fitting of these pods is absolutely perfect and if Volkswagen had to fit them I don’t think they would do a better a job. Throwing some accoustics around the car is brought to you by Kenwood which is a MP3 aswell as a flip out DVD player which blends in nicely with the freshly overhauled center console. In the door panels sits Sony speakers while in the boot a nice 12” Sub throws a bit of bass into the works. I have only covered a minor bit of the work that has been carried out on this car but it is amazing to see what can be done on a limited budget of I think it was 2k. Once last thing I have to mention and if I can remember rightly it was the first mod to the car before he took ownership and although designed and made by him back then it was only done because it was an idea he knew would look well. The Custom rear parcel shelve is made from 18mm thick MDF covered in black carpet and leather and sitting in the center of the Shelf is the Perspex’s VW crest in the center and 2 x 6x9’s. As you lift the boot lid up to see the parcel shelf, at night the crest is lit up from the LED’s placed in the roof shining down into the car.

I must say I give this car a 10/10 for presence on the roads and 11/10 to Cliff for being able to create so much out of so little. Anyone else interested in getting into this type of thing there is two main sites I know off. www.clubpolo.co.uk and www.vagdrivers.com

hey mate lovin the car especially the bad boy bonnet, i was just wonderin them rears you've got, what et are they cos i'm gettin borbet t's 8x14 too et 15 i know et 20's fit. If yours are et 20 how much space is there left from your tyre to your arches and if 5mm more will make the tread stick out. cheers :-)
