i got given a early birthday present from my dad. tomtom one XL T from my dad, and today my aunt just bought me a tomtom aswell... theres no need for 2 lol so I'm gonna refund it for a camera so which camera should i go for I'm interested in photograpthy and will be taking loads of pictures of cars and so on... I've seen some amazing quality pictures on here and was wondering what to go for and some examples would be great

Thats a very vague question m8..

How much are you realistically looking to spend...

If you are into photography I would recomend an entry level SLR....I currently use a canon 400D with the kit 18-55mm lens....

The kit lens isnt amazing, but it deffinately does the job..

Takes some practice to learn the camera, but if you want amazing photos, go for that...

If thats to expensive, the canon IXUS range are very good compact cameras...

i would have to agree but if you get a fine pix go to argos !!! they are selling s9600 FD for 169 quid at the moment !!!

Nikon D40 ftw, I have one too. Fantastic quality and feel. Canon 400D is good too but i'd still choose my Nikon anyday, cheaper too with some money for another lens etc.

well thats how much i got mine for !!! it came up 169 when i typed it in on the stock checker

The thing i like about mine is that is was so easy just to pick up and use.

Are you sure it is the s9600FD? because the 6500 is for £169, if it's the 9600FD will definately be worth the visit :-) Thanks mate

just checked with a m8 from argos and your right !!!! my mastake i got my one from asda there cheap there to! the s9500 still werth that price i think sorry for the misshap !

I would say get whats known as a 'pro-sumer' model, its the gap between point and shoot ans slr pretty much. I got the Fuji s7000 and its been a great camera, can do everyhing an slr can do but you cant change the lense, but you can attach filters and that.

I've had a Canon 350d for around a year and a half now. I started off only using the automatic settings, but after a while I started experimenting and found it very very easy to learn everything. Its a simple camera to use, however the kit lens is not great, so if you were to buy a Canon, have a lens budget in mind as well. The 350d will be a lot cheaper now, as the 400d is out. Both are good as a starting camera, with the 400d having only slight improvements (extra 2mp, larger lcd screen, and a self cleaning lens system).

Also, if you get the latest 'Digital Photo' Magazine, they have an excellent DSLR guide and a buyers guide. It is £5 but well worth it in my opinion. It has a 130 minute video of PhotoShop video guides included. To save you time though, the top two cameras in the test were the Canon EOS 400D and the Nikon D40X.
