Hi guys I've jst fitted my 1peice angel eyes kit to the polo and the bulbs aint brigth enuff so i replaced them with the h1 100w xenon (fake blue blubs ) I'm not happy with the light as the out put pattern looks rubbish and all over the place even tho you can adjust the alighment.

i was thinkin to get the real HID kit they go for cheapest £50-£60 on ebay. I've just realised that on the angel eye unit there is a sticker sayin NO HID ALLOWED! so has any one eye fitted their 1 peice angel eye unit with HID kit and is it safe for road use?

I've been wondering this too,,,if you pm desta i know he has them on his car without any probs..A firm on ebay are currently selling the one piece black ones with HID kits fitted to em but I'm not 100% sure theyd not go into meltdown,,shame as i love the look of the 1piece lights and HIDs.Got any pics of your car with the lights on fella?

ok here is the pic of the angels eye fitted onto the car sorry i aint talken a good pic yet il will be puttin up al the new pics soon of the car and all the changes I've down so far!

i like the look of those,,,what were they like to fit and were they a nice fit to the wing etc.

i think HID's in these should be fine, HID's operate at a lower temperature than normal bulbs so there cant be much fear of them melting the clusters...

i had the one peice angel eyes with a hid kit on my old mk4.

although it does work, i do realise why the warning sticker said "HID NOT ALLOWED".

if u compare a halogen h1 bulb to a HID h1 bulb. the halogen bulb is much slimmer near the base, therefore the bulb hole in the headlight is small and if a HID bulb is inserted it will rub slightly, possibly damagin the bulbs.

one way around this problem is to use a grinding tool such as dremel, and work into the edges of the hole to increase the size so there is more clearance for the bulb.

if u decide not to increase the size of the hole then when fitting the HID bulb u must take the headlamp off the car and insert the bulb carefully and hold it dead straight to avoid damage.

how long have you run hids in your lights desta/

on my old polo it was about 6months, and the new owner hasnt experienced problems with it yet.

The HIDs are not a straight fit into the angel eye you will need a small file to make the HID bulb fit minimal amout of filing (it is easier to take head lights off the car) then fit the clamp to hold the bulb in the hardest part is done. Then the dome cover on the rear of the light will need to be drilled out to fit over the HID as the bulb is longer than the standed halogen bulb so it will need to poke out of the dome then either hot glue or silicone to protect the bulb. Mount the ballast and connect the headlight power. SORTED

I have fitted a HID kit in October 2007 and no problems the headlamp is not damaged in any way.

To pass E markings (uk approval) the lights are made like that as the UK VOSA dont approve of HIDs the only reason HIDs are alloud is because of an EU ruling.
