Does anyone know how to wire up the front indicators so they light up with the sidelights on?

I've seen it done on a few polos and think it looks cool

In japan / US its legal to have orange sidelights. They therefore use a 21/5 double filament bulb in the indicators, so the 5W filament lights up as the sidelight and the 21W filament lights up as the indicators.

It will fail an MOT in the UK.

Why don't you just wire up a switch in the dash (nice toggle switch or something) and have a separate LED in holder from maplins or somewhere wired to that. Drill a hole in you indicator casing and install. Then you can say its for off-road use only, as it is activated by a separate switch.

i did it on mine for a while and just got the bulb holder for the side repeater from a polo at the scrappy and got an orange 501 bulb (i think).

I then wired it up in parallel to the side lights and pushed the bulb through a hole i drilled in the indicator light. you can just pull it out when it comes to MOT time!

I put in clear indicators on the front there only to find the bulbs are clear too, now I'm considerin getting some sort of long side repeaters or something similar to those on the front of a mk2 and fitting them to the bumper and just modifying the wiring to the current indicators to turn them into side lights. Looking at something like these for the front bumper:

GSF do the clear ones, shouldn't be hard to cut a hole in for a sidelight holder.
