copper does rust though. its like aluminium that rusts too. there are differnet kinds of rust. white rust etc.. ok. this could go on forever. lets just pretend they were replaced every year by the previous owner.

Indeed, aluminium oxidises...acctually usefull as you can build up a layer of oxide to protect the part...called anodising.

I've bought some of this to do mine with - gone back to the copper stuff as the steel was a pain in the arse to bend - there aint no second chances like you get with the copper ones!

just paint the copper lines green lol.

oh and get a brake line bender - or you'll crease the pipe when your shaping it

cheers fella. well we have two pipe benders to use and a flaring tool. my mates who are gonna do it for me are confident about flaring the steel pipes as they sometimes have to cut out a rotten section and re-flare steel pipes to put a new section in. they are aware its much harder to do but managable just gotta take your time. should be easier off the car as they often do it still on the car when they're doing it this way and adding new sections.. time will tell anyways.

just to say. they flared fine, bent fine and look f**king spot on like new. and the resevoir was cleaned out and full new vw fluid through the whole system. standard brakes never felt so good.

Steel brake pipes are alot better in many ways. New cars are all built with steel pipes, as copper pipes are not strong enough for the ABS system, so they just split under pressure. Plus copper looks out of place on 'newer' cars like g40's, looks ok on old minis etc though.
