I have read loads of different audio solutions for cars, I am new and wondering what people's ideal (bargain) audio setup is for my Mk4 Polo, I was intending on fitting 6.5" Alpine SXE1750S component speakers (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-sxe1750s-p-2988.html) into the front doors, I would like to know what size speakers our in the dash on a Mk4 polo and what sort of speaker should be fitted.. Once these are installed will be saving for a decent head unit and an amp to power the system with a sub to come.. Am I thinking correctly or would this make a horrible start?

Any ideas welcome!

the dash speakers are tweeters, so you can replace them with the alpine tweeters that will come with the components

go on ebay and search infinity speakers and get some 6.5s for 45quid posted.

i just pulled out the dash tweaker and wired neg to neg and pos to pos to keep the circuit and hole drilled the doorcards next to the 6.5 to fit the tweakers down there.

after doing this you still have space to fit some 10cm speakers into the dash if you wish.

when you buy your headunit, make sure they have RCA outputs, saves you alot of hassle.

with the component speakers, when you fit them, you have the choice to run them from the headunit, or from the amp itself, depending on what you really want to do. You should think about where you want them to run from first.

If you are going to run them from the amp, make sure that your amp has enough channels for the speakers.
